Electrochemical Behavior of Cast Iron in the Presence of Bacteria in Water Distribution Systems
Electrochemical behavior and corrosion of cast iron were investigated in the presence of sulfate-reducing bacteria and iron bacteria (SRB) and iron bacteria isolated from water distribution system using electrochemical techniques, scanning electron ...

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Hit-to-Lead Identification and Validation of a Triaromatic Pleuromutilin Antibiotic Candidate
Herein, we report the hit-to-lead identification of a drug-like pleuromutilin conjugate 16, based on a triaromatic hit reported in 2020. The lead arose as the clear candidate from a hit-optimization campaign in which Gram-positive antibacterial activity,

Research on automatic spraying of single-walled carbon nanotubes and detection of spraying effects
Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) have been introduced as compliant electrodes for dielectric elastomers (DEs) due to fault tolerance. To acquire a better electrostrictive strain and longer lifetime, it is essential to obtain a certain and uniform ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

High-intensity interval training (HIT): A time-efficient exercise prescription for pre-diabetes?
Pre-diabetes invariably precedes type 2 diabetes, for which the personal and economic burdens are well known. Exercise is usually recommended as part of lifestyle interventions that aim to prevent progression from pre-diabetes to diabetes.
