Prevalence of antibodies to Hepatitis C virus among Nigerian patients with HIV infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Nigeria belongs to the group of countries highly endemic for viral hepatitis; unfortunately information on the prevalence of hepatitis C amongst patients with HIV in Nigeria is very scarce.

An investigation of the breadth of neutralising antibody response in cats naturally infected with feline immunodeficiency virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Neutralising antibodies (NAbs) are believed to comprise an essential component of the protective immune response induced by vaccines against FIV and HIV infections.

IgA antibodies against HIV-1

open access: yesVirologie
Antibodies, and notably immunoglobulins A (IgA), are paramount in mucosal tissues as protective immune effectors against invading pathogens and immunomodulators of the microbiota. Upon human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection, systemic and mucosal IgA antibody responses are triggered.

Elemene Augments the Effects of Anti‐PD‐1 Immunotherapy on Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Regulating the miR‐130a‐5p/SPP/MHC‐I Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Elemene increases SPP expression by competitively binding with miR‐130a‐5p to suppress SPP mRNA degradation. This led to more antigen/MHC‐I complexes being expressed on the cell surface, which consequently facilitated the recognition and killing of HCC cells by CTLs and enhancing the antitumor immune efficacy of anti‐PD‐1.

Enhancing exposure of HIV-1 neutralization epitopes through mutations in gp41.

open access: yesPLoS Medicine, 2008
The generation of broadly neutralizing antibodies is a priority in the design of vaccines against HIV-1. Unfortunately, most antibodies to HIV-1 are narrow in their specificity, and a basic understanding of how to develop antibodies with broad ...

A dsRNA Viral Transcriptional Regulator Evades Innate Immunity by Hijacking Host CoTranscription Factor DHX9

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a new viral mechanism by a viral protein σ3 that functions as a vTR to suppress NF‐κB gene expression via its direct interaction with the host helicase DHX9. Through their interaction, σ3 not only impairs the initial recruitment of Pol II but also affects Pol II pause‐release and ultimately suppresses NF‐κB gene expression ...

HIV-1 Antibodies and Serology

open access: yesClinics in Laboratory Medicine, 1994
This article reviews various laboratory assays for screening and detection of antibodies against HIV-1 and viral components. The prognostic role of these assays in the course of HIV-1 infection is described as well as functional aspects of anti-HIV antibodies.
