HLA-B27 antigen in women with ankylosing spondylitis.

JAMA, 1976
Twenty-three (85.2%) of 27 female patients with ankylosing spondylitis were positive for HLA-B27 antigen, including 15 of 18 white women (83.3%) and eight of nine black women (88.9%). Ankylosing spondylitis in women appears to have the same high association with HLA-B27 antigen as that reported in predominantly male studies (88% to 96%).

[HLA-B27 antigen and alkaptonuria].

Revue du rhumatisme et des maladies osteo-articulaires, 1977
Study of urinary homogentisic acid and a determinantion of group HLA were carried out for 36 members of a family spread over three generations with three cases of ochronotic rheumatism in the second generation. Alkaptonuria was discovered in seven other subjects, six of them members of the third generation: urinary elimination was poor, less than 0.60 ...

[Non-granulomatous anterior uveitis and HLA-B27 antigen].

Nippon Ganka Gakkai zasshi, 1989
In Caucasians, there is close correlation between acute anterior uveitis and histocompatibility antigen HLA-B27. But in Japanese, this is not clear. Therefore, we examined 58 patients with non-granulomatous anterior uveitis (NGAU) about HLA typing in our uveitis clinic at Tokyo Women's Medical College Hospital.

HLA B27 Antigens in Patients with Chronic Arthralgia

Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 1989

Novel HY peptide antigens presented by HLA-B27.

The Journal of Immunology, 1997
Abstract We have identified two peptides corresponding to the male-specific HY minor histocompatibility Ags presented by HLA-B27 in transgenic rodents, isolated from whole cell extracts and from immunoprecipitated B27 molecules of male B27 rat spleen cells.

HLA-B27 AND DISEASE: A CONSEQUENCE OF INADVERTENT ANTIGEN PRESENTATION?

Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North America, 1992
The close association of HLA-B27 with arthritic conditions has led to the suggestion that these diseases are mediated by cytotoxic T lymphocytes that recognize self-peptides presented by HLA-B27 molecules. The further association with enteric bacterial infections suggests that bacterial antigens may prime the CTL that later crossreacts on self ...

Primary structure of papain-solubilized human histocompatibility antigen HLA-B27

Biochemistry, 1985
The complete amino acid sequence of papain-solubilized HLA-B27, an antigen that presents a very strong association to the development of ankylosing spondylitis, has been determined. The overall sequence homology with the cross-reactive allelic products HLA-B7 and HLA-B40 (Bw60) is 93% and 92%, respectively.

[HLA-B27w (weak HLA-B27)--another subtype of HLA-B27 antigen].

Vnitrni lekarstvi, 1994
The authors describe another subtype of antigen HLA-B27, described as HLA-B27P3. It was assessed, using 5 anti-HLA-B27 sera. It is identical with the weak antigen HLA-B27(HLA-B27w) described by the author in 1976.

HLA-B27 antigen and rheumatoid arthritis.

Acta medica Iugoslavica, 1991
The influence of HLA-B27 antigen on clinical, radiological and laboratory features of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was studied. The group with B27 antigen comprised: 4 males and 20 females aged 28 to 71 and a group of patients free from B27 antigen consisted of 2 males and 21 females aged 26 to 69.

Flow cytometric HLA‐B27 screening: Cross‐reactivity patterns of commercially available anti–HLA‐B27 monoclonal antibodies with other HLA‐B antigens

Cytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, 2003
AbstractBackgroundSome 50 clinical laboratories in the Benelux perform flow cytometric HLA‐B27 screening and participate in the Benelux external quality assessment scheme operational since 1995. Results from this scheme indicate that cross‐reactivity of HLA‐B27 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) is a major problem.MethodsWe analyzed cross‐reactivity patterns
