Synergistic Photo‐Electro‐Fenton Oxidation of Antibiotics Using a Ferrocene‐Functionalized MXene (Ti3C2Tx) Electrode

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
2D MXene (Ti3C2Tx)‐based electrode setup for hybrid photo‐electro‐Fenton degradation of antibiotic (tetracycline). The persistence of antibiotics such as tetracycline in aquatic systems poses severe environmental and health risks by potential antimicrobial resistance.

Sequence‐encoded determinants drive distinct early aggregation pathways and different structural outcomes in PNT1 fibrils across Henipavirus members

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Protein aggregation is increasingly recognized as a biologically relevant process in viral proteins, yet the molecular determinants governing such phenomena remain poorly understood. Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) are ubiquitous in viral proteomes, where conformational plasticity not only enables functional diversity but also permits

Unveiling the Microvasculature: The Index of Microcirculatory Resistance and Its Expanding Role in Cardiovascular Care

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 108, Issue 2, Page 287-300, August 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Index of microcirculatory resistance (IMR) is a cutting‐edge, wire‐based tool that advances the capability assessment of coronary microvascular function. By utilizing distal coronary pressure and mean transit time under maximal hyperemia, IMR delivers consistent, reproducible insights into the microvasculature's dynamic health.

Multimodal Physical Therapy Management of Dysmenorrhea With Coexisting Mechanical Low Back Pain and Early Degenerative Lumbar Spondylosis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT A 21‐year‐old woman with dysmenorrhea, mechanical low back pain, early lumbar spondylosis, heavy menstrual bleeding, and anemia received 4 weeks of multimodal physiotherapy. Pain and function improved, but heavy bleeding created diagnostic uncertainty; menstrual flow and hemoglobin changes were interpreted cautiously and not attributed to ...

SARS‐CoV‐2 Spike Peptides Trigger Nociceptive Responses Through Spinal TLR4 Pathways

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 7, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pain is a common neurological manifestation of COVID‐19, yet the mechanisms by which SARS‐CoV‐2 spike protein fragments contribute to nociceptive processing remain poorly understood. We investigated whether spike‐derived peptides directly activate spinal neuroimmune pathways involved in pain signalling.

Categorical Boosting‐PSO: A SHAP‐Interpretable Hybrid Framework for High‐Fidelity Wax Appearance Temperature Prediction in Subsea Pipelines

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
CatBoost–PSO accurately predicts wax appearance temperature from oil density, wax content, and pour point temperature, achieving R2 = 0.9760 and RMSE = 1.8106 K. External validation, SHAP interpretation, and low computational cost support rapid wax‐risk screening for subsea pipeline flow assurance.

Seasonal Trends, Environmental Drivers, and Lessons Learned From the 2023 Cholera Outbreak in Chattogram, Bangladesh: A Descriptive Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Acute watery diarrhea (AWD) remains a major global public health problem, and cholera continues to cause substantial morbidity and mortality in settings with inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Chattogram, a coastal district of Bangladesh, is particularly vulnerable due to seasonal hydroclimatic changes ...

Socio‐Demographic Factors, Knowledge, and Attitudes Associated With Self‐Reported History of Tuberculosis in Lesotho: Evidence From the 2023–24 Demographic and Health Survey

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Lesotho has one of the highest tuberculosis (TB) rates in the world. This study aimed to assess the relationship between socio‐demographic characteristics, TB knowledge, attitudes toward TB, and self‐reported history of TB. Methods The study analyzed data collected from 1503 respondents in the Lesotho Demographic and Health Survey ...

Ashwagandha: Is It Safe? Part 1: A Regulatory Review

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 4845-4857, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Over the last decade, ashwagandha ( Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal, AS) has been brought under increasing scrutiny by EU regulators regarding its safety for the use in food supplements, culminating in a recent recommendation for an Article 8 procedure according to Regulation (EC) No. 1925/2006 in the European Union (EU).

Double Slag Operating Standard for Mitigation of CO2 Emissions in Basic Oxygen Steelmaking

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 8, Page 4223-4233, August 2026.
Basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking uses a double slag process (DSP) to produce low‐phosphorus steel. To reduce carbon emissions in a BOF, the hot metal ratio (HMR) must be lowered. The present article describes the optimal conditions for DSP operations under low‐HMR conditions: temperature of 1360 ± 5 °C, total Fe content of 10 ± 2 wt%, basicity (=
