Deep Learning-Based Optimization of Central Angle and Viewpoint Configuration for 360-Degree Holographic Content

open access: yesApplied Sciences
We present a deep learning-based approach to optimize the central angle between adjacent camera viewpoints for the efficient generation of natural 360-degree holographic 3D content.

Video-Rate Quantitative Phase Imaging Using a Digital Holographic Microscope and a Generative Adversarial Network

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The conventional reconstruction method of off-axis digital holographic microscopy (DHM) relies on computational processing that involves spatial filtering of the sample spectrum and tilt compensation between the interfering waves to accurately ...

Measuring colloidomer hydrodynamics with holographic video microscopy

open access: yesPhysical Review E
In-line holographic video microscopy records a wealth of information about the microscopic structure and dynamics of colloidal materials. Powerful analytical techniques are available to retrieve that information when the colloidal particles are well-separated.

Enhanced Light Absorption by Horizontally Oriented Diatom Colonies

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
Through in situ holographic imaging of undisturbed water, diatom colonies with high aspect ratios have been found to exhibit preferential horizontal orientation within high biomass subsurface layers.

Optically Bound Rapid Plasmonic Nanorod Dimers: Anisotropic Dynamics Driven by Light‐Fluidic Cooperation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Optically confined gold nanorods exhibit cooperative light‐driven dynamics, forming mobile end‐to‐end dimers with orientation‐dependent propulsion. Using structured laser traps and an opto‐thermo‐hydrodynamic model, we uncover how optical binding, polarization‐induced torque, and near‐surface hydrodynamics govern their motion.

A Reversible Clearing Strategy Enables Robust Label‐Free Phase Imaging of Thick Tissues

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
The principle of a reversible clearing strategy via glycerol and tartrazine solution (GTS) for robust whole‐slide label‐free phase imaging of thick tissue slices via high‐throughput Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM) and lensless digital holographic microscopy (LDHM). ABSTRACT Thick biological specimens impose strong scattering and attenuation that

Exact global motion compensation for holographic video compression [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 2019
Holographic video requires impractical bitrates for storage and transmission without data compression. We introduce an end-to-end compression pipeline for compressing holographic sequences with known ground truth motion. The compression strategy employs a motion compensation algorithm based on the rotational transformation of an angular spectrum ...
