Automated Home-Cage Monitoring During Acute Experimental Colitis in Mice [PDF]
Frontiers in Neuroscience, 2021 For ethical and legal reasons it is necessary to assess the severity of procedures in animal experimentation. To estimate the degree of pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm, objective methods that provide gradebale parameters need to be tested and ...

The Promise of Automated Home-Cage Monitoring in Improving Translational Utility of Psychiatric Research in Rodents [PDF]
Frontiers in Neuroscience, 2020 Large number of promising preclinical psychiatric studies in rodents later fail in clinical trials, raising concerns about the efficacy of this approach to generate novel pharmacological interventions.

Rodent home cage monitoring for preclinical safety pharmacology assessment: results of a multi-company validation evaluating nonclinical and clinical data from three compounds [PDF]
Frontiers in ToxicologyIntroductionThe presence of central nervous system (CNS) safety concerns during early clinical testing that were not picked up in standard preclinical assessment is a major cause of attrition in drug development. It is also very expensive, time consuming

Vibration-Based Non-Contact Activity Classification for Home Cage Monitoring Using a Tuned-Beam IMU Sensing Device [PDF]
SensorsThis work presents a vibration-based non-contact monitoring method to classify the physical activity of a mouse inside a home cage. A novel tuned-beam sensing device is developed to measure low-amplitude activity-induced cage vibrations.

Automated home cage monitoring of an aging colony of mice—Implications for welfare monitoring and experimentation [PDF]
Frontiers in NeuroscienceIntroductionOur understanding of laboratory animal behavior and the implications of husbandry activities on their wellbeing remains incomplete. This is especially relevant with an aging colony as their activity patterns may change as they mature.

Using Home-Cage Monitoring to Determine the Impact of Timed Mating on Male Mouse Welfare [PDF]
Frontiers in Neuroscience, 2022 Some of our breeding programs include the use of Prm1 male Homozygous mice which are naturally sterile. This removes the need to use vasectomized males to induce pseudopregnancy in female mice.

Automated home-cage monitoring as a potential measure of sickness behaviors and pain-like behaviors in LPS-treated mice. [PDF]
PLoS ONE, 2021 The use of endotoxin, such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as a model of sickness behavior, has attracted recent attention. To objectively investigate sickness behavior along with its pain-like behaviors in LPS-treated mice, the behavioral measurement ...
