The Daisystat: A model to explore multidimensional homeostasis
The Homeostat was a physical device that demonstrated Ashby’s notion of ‘ultrastability’. The components interact in such a way as to maintain sets of essential variables to within critical ranges in the face of an externally imposed regime of ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Although autophagy-related gene 7 (ATG7) acts as an E1-like activating enzyme and is essential for autophagy, it frequently performs broader roles involved in the modulation of diverse signaling pathways that affect cell proliferation, survival ...

Homeostasis is a central pillar of modern Physiology. The term homeostasis was invented by Walter Bradford Cannon in an attempt to extend and codify the principle of 'milieu intérieur,' or a constant interior bodily environment, that had previously been postulated by Claude Bernard.

In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

The role of insulin receptor substrate 2 in hypothalamic and β cell function [PDF]
Insulin receptor substrate 2 (Irs2) plays complex roles in energy homeostasis. We generated mice lacking Irs2 in β cells and a population of hypothalamic neurons (RIPCreIrs2KO), in all neurons (NesCreIrs2KO), and in proopiomelanocortin neurons ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Activated dormant stem cells recover spermatogenesis in chemoradiotherapy-induced infertility
Summary: Male infertility is a recognized side effect of chemoradiotherapy. Extant spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) may act as originators for any subsequent recovery.

The Nemo-like kinase (NLK) plays a regulatory role in immune responses. Here, the authors show that NLK inhibits antiviral IFN responses by phosphorylating the mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein MAVS and describe a MAVS-derived peptide that ...
