δ Opioid Receptor in Neuronal Cells Undergoes Acute and Homologous Desensitization

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996
Using delta opioid receptor as a model system, acute desensitization of neuronal opioid receptor was studied in detail in neuroblastoma x glioma NG108-15 cells and primarily-cultured mouse cortical cells. The opioid desensitization could occur in as short as 3 minutes of agonist treatment and the half-life of the desensitized state was about 90 minutes.

Homologous desensitization to prostaglandins in rabbit ileum

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1987
Prostaglandins (PG's) increase short-circuit current (Isc), inhibit NaCl absorption, and stimulate Cl secretion in rabbit ileum. These changes occur with the following PGs; E2, E1, nitrilo-I2 and, to a lesser extent, with A2, D2, and F2 alpha. Arachidonic acid (AA) also stimulates secretion.

Homologous Desensitization of the D1 Dopamine Receptor

Journal of Neurochemistry, 1990
Abstract: Preincubation of D384 cells, derived from the human astrocytoma cell line G‐CCM, with dopamine resulted in a time‐dependent attenuation of cyclic AMP responsiveness to subsequent dopamine stimulation. This effect was agonist specific because the prostaglandin E1 (PGE,) stimulation of cyclic AMP of similarly treated cells remained unchanged ...

Hormone-Induced Homologous and Heterologous Desensitization in the Rat Adipocyte*

Endocrinology, 1981
We examined the process of desensitization in the isolated rat adipocyte. When adipocytes were exposed to isoproterenol (10(-7) or 10(-5) M) or ACTH (250 mU/ml) for 2 h, there was a marked decline of as much as 77% in response upon restimulation by hormone, as measured by glycerol release or cAMP levels.

Inhibition of protein synthesis on homologous and heterologous desensitization in the rat adipocyte

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1982
Abstract Desensitization of lipolysis was induced in isolated rat adipocytes by incubation with isoproterenol 10 −5 M or ACTH 250 mU/ml for two and three hours, respectively. Those cells desensitized with isoproterenol were restimulated with either isoproterenol 10 −7 M or ACTH 6 mU/ml and those cells desensitized with ACTH were restimulated with ...

Homologous desensitization and visualization of the tilapia GnRH type 3 receptor

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 2007
Two types of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors were found in the pituitary of tilapia (t), named GnRHR type 3 (tGnRHR3) and GnRHR type 1, according to phylogenetic analysis. tGnRHR3 is highly expressed in the posterior part of the pituitary which contains LH and FSH cells.
