Acetylation of European hornbeam (Carpinus betulus L.) wood for outdoor applications
, 2023 Many European wood species have low natural durability which makes them unable to be used for exterior applications without additional protection. In this work, European hornbeam wood (Carpinus betulus L.) was industrially acetylated in order to improve its properties and widen its usage.

Insect Science, EarlyView.Moderate retention forestry creates structurally sharp forest edges that act as ecological filters, shaping orientation‐specific activity of ground‐dwelling arthropods. Using drift‐fence pitfall traps, we show that activity aligned with ecotones is more frequent than activity across forest–clearcut boundaries, particularly among detritivores.

Fragmenta Faunistica, 2001 Fungus gnats were studied in linden-oak-hornbeam woods, the most representative plant associa-tions in the Bialowieza National Park. The species composition, abundance and frequency of Mycetophilidaes. l.at three selected sites were compared. 257 species were recorded. Most of the material was collected by netting, some by light and by odour baits.
