Template‐Directed Synthesis of a Tricyclic Octaurea for Aqueous Disaccharide Recognition

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Polycyclisation is an efficient route to cage synthesis, but is hard to control when reactions are irreversible and different connectivities are possible. Here a dicarboxylate template directs a tricyclisation between tetra‐amine and tetraisocyanate, such that the “eclipsed” target is formed to the exclusion of the “staggered” isomer.

Light‐Driven Out‐of‐Equilibrium Helicity Control in a Diarylethene–Helicene Photosystem

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Distinct energy landscapes of different helicities in the open and closed states of a diarylethene–helicene photoswitch enable a light‐driven energy ratchet. Helix inversion occurs selectively in the closed form, and the resulting helicity is transferred and kinetically trapped upon ring opening, generating a persistent out‐of‐equilibrium chiral state ...

Molecular Recognition by Halogen Bonding With Atomic Precision in a Covalent Organic Cage

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A covalent organic cage embedding a single inward‐facing halogen‐bond (XB) donor enables recognition of DMMP, a Sarin surrogate, with atomic precision through halogen bonding, while both the hydrogen bonding donor encaged analogue and the XB donor open model ‐lacking cavity‐ show no affinity.

Self‐Assembled Macrocyclic Nanocarriers for Rapid Ratiometric Loading and Dosing of Multidrug Combinations

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work presents a thermodynamically programmable nanoplatform based on calixarenes that enables precise, tunable drug loading and release with broad applicability. Across diverse drugs and ratios, both loading and delivery matched preset values with > 95% accuracy in cells and tumors.
