Liquid Crystal Elastomer Actuator Matrix for Large Area Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A scalable approach is used to manufacture a digitally‐controllable, 2D 5 × 5 actuator matrix. The elements of the matrix are produced by direct ink writing of a liquid crystal elastomer ‘artificial muscle’ on large‐area flexible thin‐film heaters. In optimizing the low‐power actuators, multiple heater designs and substrate materials are investigated ...

Biodegradable and Edible Milli‐Fluidic Logic Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fully biodegradable and edible fluidic circuits are developed using gelatin‐based valves that operate at low pressure. Logic gates, a one‐bit memory, and a ring oscillator are demonstrated, showing that biodegradable materials can perform computation and control.

Multidimensional Heat‐Path Engineering in Thermal Interface Materials for High‐Performance Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review presents multidimensional heat‐path engineering for thermal interface materials, showing how internal heat transport, interfacial contact and bondline formation, and processing‐defined pathway architectures together determine bonded‐joint thermal performance.

Lack of activity of azapropazone in the hot-plate test and in 5-HT1A and 5-HT2 receptor subtypes in rat brain membranes

open access: yes, 1995
This study aimed to investigate the antinociceptive activity of azapropazone (AZA), a weak prostaglandin synthesis inhibitor using the hot-plate test, and its ability to modify the serotonin-binding capacity in rat brain membranes.

Linking Polyelectrolyte Modification and Enzyme‐Catalyzed Phenolic Acid Functionalization of Cellulose Fiber for Functional Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Cellulose fibers functionalized using cationic poly(Dimethyldiallylammonium chloride) (polyDADMAC) and laccase‐mediated ferulic acid system are processed into foams using different surfactants (Anionic, cationic, and non‐ionic). Fiber–surfactant interactions influence foam stabilization and porous structure formation during convective drying, producing

3D‐Printed Actuator Powered by Liquid Crystal Elastomer Muscles at the Water–Air Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Soft robots for unstructured environments require responsive, durable actuators. Liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) provide large reversible deformations under thermal or optical stimuli. Direct ink writing enables fabrication of LCE actuators integrated with silicone, with mesogen chemistry and oligomers optimized for printable inks.

Angled Nozzle Aerosol Jet Printing to Streamline Conformal Patterning of Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A modular, angled aerosol jet printhead is demonstrated to streamline patterning on nonplanar surfaces, including 90° step edges and confined internal geometries. A detailed analysis of gravitational settling for a sheathed aerosol flow and deconvolution of oblique deposition and gravitational effects supports the versatility of this approach for ...

Processing‐Driven Engineering of Transparent Conductive In‐Zn‐O Thin Films: A Comparative Study of Spin‐Coating, Inkjet Printing, and Screen Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transparent, electrically conductive In–Zn–O thin films are solution‐processed by spin coating, inkjet printing, and, as demonstrated here for the first time, screen printing. The chosen deposition technique determines the solution composition, which in turn governs the resulting microstructure and optoelectronic performance.
