Representing Directions for Hough Transforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Many algorithms in computer vision operate with directions, i. e. with representations of 3D-points by ignoring their distance to the origin. Even though minimal parametrizations of directions may contain singularities, they can enhance convergence in optimization algorithms and are required e. g. for accumulator spaces in Hough transforms.

YOLO‐GDCNN: Real‐Time Operating Point Detection for Live Working Robots in the Power Industry

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the power industry maintenance, the capability of live working robots to detect and operate with power components in real time is paramount. This paper proposes a cascaded detection framework for real‐time detection of live working operation points, named YOLO‐GDCNN. The framework consists of two parts.

Integration of biological data resources using image object keying. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper proposes a novel concept of ‘image object keying'. The work builds on earlier research in this area and shows how the 3D structure of a protein can be retrieved interactively from a gel electrophoresis protein spot.

AstroECP: towards more practical electron channeling contrast imaging

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
We explore and address many of the major challenges associated with using electron channeling contrast imaging in a scanning electron microscope, with the goal of more easily revealing and characterizing crystalline defects such as dislocations.Electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI) is a scanning electron microscope based technique which enables ...

Looking at quality through a systems lens—Applying systems thinking to the Australian National Disability Insurance Scheme

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Public Administration, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT It is widely recognised that many policy systems are complex, requiring collaboration across different organisations and sectors to address socioeconomic outcomes and inequalities. Yet, the public policy literature is dominated by rational–technical frameworks that struggle to understand complex systems. This paper applies ideas from the field

Evaluation of Two-Dimensional Angular Orientation of a Mobile Robot by a Modified Algorithm Based on Hough Transform

open access: yesCybernetics and Information Technologies, 2018
This paper proposes an algorithm that assesses the angular orientation of a mobile robot with respect to its referential position or a map of the surrounding space.
