Social network analysis for poultry HPAI transmission
Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2018In this survey study, the networks among poultry farms and related poultry enterprises in two counties in China (Feixi County in Anhui Province and Beizhen city in Liaoning Province) were analysed and evaluated focusing on the connectivity of contacts, movements, and potential pathogen transmission. The Feixi County poultry production network exhibited

Interaction of the HpaI endonuclease with synthetic oligonucleotides
Biochemistry, 1982To determine which functional groups of bases within the grooves of double-helical DNA interact with the HpaI endonuclease, we have employed chemically synthesized octanucleotides containing base analogues. The 5-methyl group of thymine was probed as a contact between the HpaI endonuclease and its recognition sequence by using the oligonucleotides d(G ...

History and Evolution of HPAI Viruses in Southeast Asia
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2006Abstract: Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been recognized as a serious viral disease of poultry since 1878. The number of outbreaks of this disease globally has increased in the past 10 years culminating in 2004 with the unprecedented outbreak of H5N1 HPAI involving nine countries in East and South East Asia.

HPAI surveillance programme in Cambodia: results and perspectives.
Developments in biologicals, 2006Cambodia has faced 15 confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in different sectors of the poultry industry since January 2004. The country has very limited human and financial resources and, when the outbreak first began, the veterinary services were not equipped with the basic tools to collect accurate epidemiological information ...

Physical mapping of bacteriophage lambda DNA with restriction endonuclease HpaI
Gene, 1978The restriction endonuclease from Haemophilus parainfluenzae, endoR.HpaI cleaves lambdacI857s7 DNA into 14 fragments. The sizes of these fragments were determined and a physical map was constructed. The ordering of the fragments was carried out using different deletion and substitution mutants of lambda phage, double cleavages with another restriction ...

HPAI 9G DNAChip: discrimination of highly pathogenic influenza virus genes
Chemical Communications, 2012The HPAI 9G DNAChip discriminates the single nucleotide polymorphism of H5N1, H5N1 (K), and H5N3 in a 60:1 ratio. It allows the simultaneous detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses with a signal to background ratio of 200 and 100% target-specific hybridization in 30 min at 25 °C.

The Great PCR and HPAI Mistake
Journal of Independent MedicineDespite Kary Mullis PhD saying that PCR testing cannot tell if there is disease present, or if an individual is infectious, it has become a commonly used test in veterinary medicine for certain infections. This review paper explains why clinical diagnosis and use as a standalone technique in research constitutes inappropriate usage of PCR and risks ...

[Isolation of modification-restriction enzymes HpaI and HpaII].
Biokhimiia (Moscow, Russia), 1986A method for simultaneous isolation of four enzymes of modification-restriction of DNA from Haemophilus parainfluenzae is proposed. The properties of HpaI and HpaII DNA-methylases were investigated.

Poultry Movement and Sustained HPAI Risk in Cambodia
2011The threat posed by highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 viruses to humans remains significant, given the continued occurrence of sporadic human cases (518 human cases in 15 countries) with a high case fatality rate (approximately 60%; Table 13.1), the endemicity in poultry populations in several countries, and the potential for reassortment ...
