Kinetic study of HTPB (Hydroxyl Terminated Polybutadiene) Synthesis Using Infrared Spectroscopy
A kinetic study of HTPB synthesis by radical polymerization of butadiene with hydrogen peroxide initiator was conducted using infrared spectroscopy. HTPB conversion was determined based on the conjunction termination rate constant, and all polymerization

Burning Properties of Uncured HTPB Propellant
ABSTRACT In this study, we examined the burning rate of the uncured pr opellant (with and without a curing agent application) in order to inspect the process of the HTPB solid propellant. The burning rate of the uncured propellant, that did not contain the curing agent, was approximately 9.7 mm/s at 1000 psi. In relation to the curing time, the burning

Purification and Properties of Polyvinyl Nitrate and Its Compatibility With Solid Oxidizers
ABSTRACT Polyvinyl nitrate (PVN) is a nitrate‐ester energetic binder that can be produced directly from polyvinyl alcohol—a cheap commodity feedstock—thereby offering potential cost and supply‐chain advantages over binders based on nitrocellulose and other specialty polymers.

ABSTRACT The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the advantage of computationally pre‐screening surface‐modifying material candidates, using density functional theory (DFT), to inform experimental synthesis and formulation efforts. This demonstration focuses on improving the solubility of benzene‐based materials in hydroxyl‐terminated ...

This study addresses stability, repair, and recycling in flexible devices using polymers with identical dynamic bonds but incompatible backbones. This enables robust integration, precise self‐healing, and full recyclability. We demonstrate optoelectronic sensors that, after damage, magnetically self‐assemble and heal upon heating.

A molecular dynamics study on oxidation of aluminum hydride (AlH₃)/hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) solid fuel [PDF]
The Combustion Institute Aluminum hydride (AlH3) is a promising replacement for aluminum in hybrid and solid propellants, where hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) is normally used as a binder. In this study, a reactive molecular dynamics simulation

ABSTRACT Hydrogen chlorine (HCl) is an important combustion intermediate during plastic (municipal waste) and composite propellant (aerospace) combustion, but the understanding of its high‐temperature chemistry is still evolving. In this study, the pyrolysis of 0.5% HCl in Ar was investigated behind reflected shock waves in a shock tube at temperatures
