Biomechanical and Physiological Evaluation of Biologically-Inspired Hip Assistance With Belt-Type Soft Exosuits

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, 2022
Hip-assisted soft exosuits have been reported for their effect on reducing the metabolic power of human walking. Currently, most studies focus on uni-directional assistance (HF: hip flexion, or HE: hip extension). This paper investigates the effect of bi-

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Foul 2050: Thoughts on Physical Interaction in Human-Robot Soccer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The RoboCup community has one definite goal: winning against the human world soccer champion team by the year 2050 [1]. This implies real tackles and fouls between humans and robots and rises safety concerns for the robots and even more important for

A recurrent reinforcement learning approach applicable to highly uncertain environments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2020
Reinforcement learning has been a promising approach in control and robotics since data-driven learning leads to non-necessity of engineering knowledge. However, it usually requires many interactions with environments to train a controller.

Magic in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI)

open access: yes2022 Swedish Artificial Intelligence Society Workshop (SAIS), 2022
"Magic" is referred to here and there in the robotics literature, from "magical moments" afforded by a mobile bubble machine, to "spells" intended to entertain and motivate children--but what exactly could this concept mean for designers? Here, we present (1) some theoretical discussion on how magic could inform interaction designs based on reviewing ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Tactile sensing: A key technology for safe physical human robot interaction

open access: yes, 2022
S.139-140Human-robot interaction in a shared workspace permits and often even requires physical contact between humans and robots. A key technology to ensure that physical human robot interaction is safe is to monitor contact forces by providing the ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Child-Centric Robot Dialogue Systems: Fine-Tuning Large Language Models for Better Utterance Understanding and Interaction

open access: yesSensors
Dialogue systems must understand children’s utterance intentions by considering their unique linguistic characteristics, such as syntactic incompleteness, pronunciation inaccuracies, and creative expressions, to enable natural conversational engagement ...
