Biomechanical Characteristics of the Human Trachea
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1980Previous experiments using mercury‐in‐Silastic strain gauges in dogs revealed the trachea to be a dynamic organ. The cartilaginous rings and intercartilaginous membranes are unique in adapting to the physiologic demands of respiration, deglutition, and gravity.

Muscular characteristics of detraining in humans
Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, 2001Skeletal muscle is characterized by its ability to dynamically adapt to variable levels of functional demands. During periods of insufficient training stimulus, muscular detraining occurs. This may be characterized by a decreased capillary density, which could take place within 2--3 wk of inactivity.

Individual Characteristics of Human Spermatozoa
Archives of Andrology, 1980We have investigated the variability of some characteristics of a sperm sample in 18 young volunteers in good health who were examined twice per month over a period of two years, and in about one hundred men undergoing treatment for sterility and for whom more than 4 spermiograms had been established during the past three years.

Biomechanical characteristics of the human esophagus
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 1993Biomechanical wall properties of the human esophagus were studied. A probe, with a balloon designed for simultaneous measurement of cross-sectional area and intraluminal pressure, was placed in the esophagus 30 cm from the incisors. Tone was not detected before inflation of the balloon.

Characteristics of Human Erythrocyte Insulin Receptors
Diabetes, 1978Highly specific insulin receptors have been identified on human erythrocytes. A modification of the monocyte insulin radioreceptor technique permitted distinct separation of human erythrocytes with their bound insulin from the free insulin. When incubated with 80 pg.

Structural Characteristics of Human Immunoglobulins
Postgraduate Medicine, 1967Alterations of the serum concentration or functional properties of immunoglobulins characterize a number of disorders of interest to clinicians. Four major classes of immunoglobulins are recognized (IgG, IgA, IgM and IgD) and a fifth (IgE) has been postulated. The current status of studies of immunoglobulin structure is reviewed.

Characteristics and heuristics of human intelligence
2013 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence for Human-like Intelligence (CIHLI), 2013In the centenary year of Turing's birth it is appropriate to explore the relationship between Computational and Human Intelligence along the path that he proposed over 60 years ago. In many way, he saw clearly what the issues were, although there were some that he missed or underestimated.

Microvascular Characteristics of the Human Interdental Papilla
Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2007SummaryThe aim of this study was to observe the microcirculation characteristics of the human interdental papilla in healthy patients in vivo. Twenty healthy patients were examined. Capillaroscopy was used to investigate the characteristics of microcirculation of the human periodontal mucosa.

Characteristics of Human Locomotion
1997The human locomotive apparatus is fascinating in its versatility, sophistication and performance. Its main characteristic is versatility. The locomotive apparatus appears to be optimized for an enormous variety of activities, not just for a few specific ones. While many animals can outperform humans in specific situations, none can perform as well in a

Morphological Characteristics of the Human Macula sacculi
Audiology and Neurotology, 2005The surface morphology of 20 human maculae sacculi is presented. Individual data on the total area, shape and the relative area of the pars superior are given. The mean area of 14 adult maculae was (mean ± SD) 2.35 ± 0.31 mm2. The ratio between the length and width of the macula was 2.54 ± 0.28.
