YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

A nonstructural polypeptide encoded by immediate-early transcription unit 1 of murine cytomegalovirus is recognized by cytolytic T lymphocytes [PDF]
We have constructed target cells by cotransfection of the MHC gene Ld and fragments of murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) DNA coding for nonstructural immediate-early (IE) proteins.

The Transcriptome of Latent Human Cytomegalovirus [PDF]
The latent human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) transcriptome has been extremely difficult to define due to the scarcity of naturally latent cells and the complexity of available models. The genomic era offers many approaches to transcriptome profiling that hold great potential for elucidating this challenging issue.

ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Understanding HCMV Latency Using Unbiased Proteomic Analyses
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) establishes either a latent (non-productive) or lytic (productive) infection depending upon cell type, cytokine milieu and the differentiation status of the infected cell.

Towards a Prophylactic Vaccine for the Prevention of HCMV Infection
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) or human herpesvirus 5, is a ubiquitous human herpesvirus, which can cause severe disease in immunocompromised patients (AIDS patients and solid organ transplant or hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients) [...]

Preventing Infection by Human Cytomegalovirus [PDF]
Abstract The way to a successful vaccine against human cytomegalovirus is hampered by the peculiar biology of this infection. However, some candidate vaccines have been shown to protect seronegative women and transplant recipients, and we should know soon whether they can prevent congenital infection.
