Effect of microstructure on lipolysis behavior of milk fat globules during gastrointestinal digestion

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness
Milk fat globules (MFG) are the primary source of energy and functional factor in dairy-based products. To evaluate the suitability of commercial MFG substitutes for infant and adult consumers, the lipolysis properties and regulatory factors in digesting

Intake of fat-soluble vitamins in the Belgian population : adequacy and contribution of foods, fortified foods and supplements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A key challenge of public health nutrition is to provide the majority of the population with a sufficient level of micronutrients while preventing high-consumers from exceeding the tolerable upper intake level.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Development and Management of Canine Adverse Food Reactions and its Connections to the Grain-Free Dog Food Movement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Canine Adverse Food Reactions include immunologically-mediated food allergies as well as non-immunological food intolerances. Although popular belief holds grains are responsible for AFR, the majority are aggravated by the common protein sources found in

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

Effect of bovine and buffalo ghee fractionation on triacylglycerol profile, lipid nutritional quality indices, thermal behavior, and tocopherol content: A comparative analysis with 2 categories of infant formula fat

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: The increased use of dairy fat in various applications is facilitated by its fractionation into hard and liquid fractions. Herein, the fractionation of bovine ghee and buffalo ghee was investigated, and triacylglycerol (TAG) profiles of milk fat ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

[Fat formula for human milk substitutes].

open access: yesVoprosy pitaniia, 1995
Chemical composition and technology of preparation of fat part of breast milk substitutes closed in lipid composition of prototype (in PUFA, phospholipid and cholesterol contents) are presented. It was shown that chosen combination of fats with antioxidant vitamins provides effective defense of food against spoiling during storage.
