Refining the Multivariable Predictive‐Prognostic PREDICTR‐OPC Model for Survival in Surgical Escalation for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The PREDICTR‐OPC model is the only prognostic classifier for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) that also predicts surgical outcomes. This study demonstrates that removing survivin from the model preserves its prognostic and predictive performance, with comparable discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility across training and ...

Data‐Independent Acquisition Mass Spectrometry in Tumor Classification and Cancer Biomarker Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cancer treatment is far from optimal also because current classification systems do not reflect the complex molecular status of the tumor and its phenotype in sufficient detail. To construct molecular tumor classifiers, omics tools provide complex molecular data reflecting many aspects from genotype to phenotype.

NLRP8 is activated by human papillomavirus 16.

open access: yes
We previously described silencing of NLRP2 by high risk HPV16. Here we report activation of NLRP8 by HPV16. NLRP8 likely recognizes the major capsid protein of HPV16 (L1) since HPV16 L1 capsid is sufficient to activate NLRP8.

Nanopore Sequencing for HPV in Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Benign Tonsil Specimens

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Human papillomavirus (HPV) accounts for the majority of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) cases in the United States but understanding the prevalence of high‐risk HPV in oropharyngeal tissue remains poor. We evaluated nanopore sequencing, a novel rapid, and long‐read sequencing platform, on OPSCC tissue and tested it in ...

Preclinical Immunogenicity and Efficacy Studies for Therapeutic Vaccines for Human Papillomavirus-Type-16-Associated Cancer

open access: yes
The objective of this study was to conduct preclinical immunogenicity and efficacy studies with several therapeutic vaccines for human papillomavirus (HPV)-16-associated cancers expressing the early antigens E5, E6, and E7 with or without E2.

DNA‐Enzyme Hybrid Nanostructures: Functional Materials to Modulate Enzymatic Activity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
DNA–enzyme hybrid nanostructures enable precise spatial and stoichiometric control over enzyme organization, offering a powerful platform to modulate catalytic activity. This review critically evaluates key mechanistic hypotheses, including proximity effects, microenvironment changes, confinement, and stabilization, as well as highlighting ...
