Cortical plasticity of audio-visual object representations [PDF]
Several regions in human temporal and frontal cortex are known to integrate visual and auditory object features. The processing of audio–visual (AV) associations in these regions has been found to be modulated by object familiarity.

The Speed of Categorization in the Human Visual System [PDF]
A new study by Liu et al. in this issue of Neuron looks at how information about object category can be extracted from intracerebral recordings from the visual cortical areas in epileptic patients. It shows that information about whether the object is a face, an animal, a chair, a fruit, or a vehicle is present as early as 100 ms after the onset of a ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Adaptive retinex algorithm based on genetic algorithm and human visual system
Multi-scale retinex is a luminance perceptual algorithm. It is widely used in image enhancement. To get best effect, the parameters need be adjusted according to the scene manually. In order to handle this issue, a novel retinex algorithm based on real-

Just noticeable distortion model based on entropy masking in DCT domain
In order to improve the threshold accuracy of JND (just noticeable distortion) model in DCT (discrete cosine transform) domain and avoid cross-domain operation, entropy masking effect was introduced into DCT-based JND model.Firstly, starting from the ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
