Virtual Audio - Three-Dimensional Audio in Virtual Environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Three-dimensional interactive audio has a variety ofpotential uses in human-machine interfaces. After lagging seriously behind the visual components, the importance of sound is now becoming increas-ingly accepted.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Human Eye Visualization With an Attention Mechanism: Enhancing Flower Detection and Classification With Visual Attention and Photometric Principles Inspired by Human Vision

open access: yesEngineering Reports
In this paper, a visual attention network (VANet) that draws inspiration from the complex workings of the human visual system is presented. The human eye possesses an extraordinary capacity to selectively concentrate on particular features within a scene

Novel Tone Mapping Method via Macro-Micro Modeling of Human Visual System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Tone mapping(TM) aims to adapt high dynamic range (HDR) images to conventional displays with visual information preserved. In this paper, a novel TM method based on macro-micro modeling is proposed, which can address the common problems in existing TM ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Gaze Distribution Analysis and Saliency Prediction Across Age Groups

open access: yes, 2017
Knowledge of the human visual system helps to develop better computational models of visual attention. State-of-the-art models have been developed to mimic the visual attention system of young adults that, however, largely ignore the variations that ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A Distorted-Image Quality Assessment Algorithm Based on a Sparse Structure and Subjective Perception

open access: yesMathematics
Most image quality assessment (IQA) algorithms based on sparse representation primarily focus on amplitude information, often overlooking the structural composition of images.

Multifocus Image Fusion Based on Extreme Learning Machine and Human Visual System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Multifocus image fusion generates a single image by combining redundant and complementary information of multiple images coming from the same scene. The combination includes more information of the scene than any of the individual source images.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.
