Empathy in Humanoid Robots

2014
Humanoid robots should be able to interact with humans in a familiar way since they are going to play a significant role in the future. Thus, it is necessary that Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) is designed in such a way that allows humans to communicate with robots effortlessly and naturally.

PERCEPTION OF HUMANOID MOVEMENT

International Journal of Humanoid Robotics, 2005
With the ultimate goal of producing natural-looking movements in humanoid robots and virtual humans, we examined the visual perception of movements generated by different models of movement generation. The models of movement generation included 14 synthetic motion generation algorithms based on theories of human motor production.

The Twente humanoid head

2009 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2009
This video shows the results of the project on the mechatronic development of the Twente humanoid head. The mechanical structure consists of a neck with four degrees of freedom (DOFs) and two eyes (a stereo pair system) which tilt on a common axis and rotate sideways freely providing a three more DOFs.

Humanoid robot LOLA

2009 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2009
This paper presents our new 25-DoF humanoid walking robot LOLA. The goal of our research is to realize a fast, human-like walking motion (target speed: 5 km/h). Furthermore, we want to increase the robot's autonomous, vision-guided walking capabilities. The robot has 25 degrees of freedom, including 7-DoF legs with actively driven toe joints.

Session Overview Humanoids

2007
An epoch of humanoid robotics started from the astonishing reveal of Honda P2 in 1996, and the focus of interest in the field has been the motion control of humanoid robots as well as the development of the hardware in the beginning of the decade. A reliable hardware with the minimum level of the mobility can be a research platform of humanoid robotics
