Effects of the operational conditions on the membrane and electrode properties of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2002
The effects of the operational conditions on the membrane and electrode properties on a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) were investigated as a function of the cell and the gas humidifiers temperatures, the thickness of the membrane, the impregnation

The effect of cool-mist humidifier on concentration of air pollutants and indoor environmental conditions

open access: yesJournal of Air Pollution and Health
Introduction: Indoor air pollution poses significant health risks, given the substantial time individuals spend indoors. Cool-mist humidifiers have been proposed as a potential intervention for enhancing indoor air quality by influencing pollutant ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

RESISTANCE OF HUMIDIFIERS, AND INSPIRATORY WORK IMPOSED BY A VENTILATOR-HUMIDIFIER CIRCUIT

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 1991
The pressures and resistances of a bubble humidifier (Bennett Cascade) and a blow-by humidifier (Fisher and Paykel) were measured and computed at gas flow rates from 4.5 to 100 litre min-1. Pressures increased with flows, with the Bennett pressures being greater at all flows.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Assessing Human Exposure to Emissions from Ultrasonic Humidifiers

open access: yes, 2021
Portable ultrasonic humidifiers add moisture into room air, but they simultaneously add exposure risks of aerosolized metals from drinking water used as fill water.

MICROBIAL COLONIZATION PROFILE OF RESPIRATORY DEVICES

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2016
Background: The respiratory care equipment’s which include nebulizers, humidifiers, and ventilators may have been identified as the potential vehicle which may cause major nosocomial infections if they are colonized by different bacteria. This study was

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Heated and humidified inspired gas through heated humidifiers in comparison to non-heated and non-humidified gas in hospitalised neonates receiving respiratory support (Protocol)

open access: yes, 2017
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: To determine the effects of heated and humidified inspiratory gas through heated humidifiers (HHs) compared to non-heated and non-humidified inspiratory gas on ...
