Antiemesis Corticosteroids Potentiate Checkpoint Blockade Efficacy by Normalizing the Immune Microenvironment in Metastatic Murine Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Corticosteroids improve the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade therapy in metastatic murine breast cancer. By normalizing the tumor immune microenvironment, corticosteroids reduce immunosuppressive signals, restore T‐cell function, and promote antitumor immune responses, resulting in enhanced tumor control.

Modulation of Hyaluronan Synthesis by the Interaction between Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Osteoarthritic Chondrocytes

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2015
Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) are considered a good source for cellular therapy in cartilage repair. But, their potential to repair the extracellular matrix, in an osteoarthritic environment, is still controversial. In osteoarthritis (OA),

The Malignant Phenotype of Breast Cancer Cells Is Reduced by COX-2 Silencing

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2008
The cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway is currently targeted for therapeutic intervention in different cancers. We have previously shown that silencing of COX-2 in the poorly differentiated metastatic breast cell line MDA-MB-231 by RNA interference markedly ...

Hyaluronic acid synthesis is required for zebrafish tail fin regeneration. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Using genome-wide transcriptional profiling and whole-mount expression analyses of zebrafish larvae, we have identified hyaluronan synthase 3 (has3) as an upregulated gene during caudal fin regeneration. has3 expression is induced in the wound epithelium

Bench-to-bedside review: The role of glycosaminoglycans in respiratory disease. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays a significant role in the mechanical behaviour of the lung parenchyma. The ECM is composed of a three-dimensional fibre mesh that is filled with various macromolecules, among which are the glycosaminoglycans (GAGs ...

Nanozyme‐Integrated Hydrogel Targeting AGEs for Diabetic Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanozyme–integrated hydrogel (PTC‐MP) exhibiting with mild photothermal effects is constructed, and a “3R” (restrain‐restore‐reinforce) strategy is proposed for diabetic osteoarthritis (DOA) treatment based on advanced glycation end products (AGEs) targeting.

Protein glycosylation in lung cancer from a mass spectrometry perspective

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Lung cancer is a severe disease for which better diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are urgently needed. Increasing evidence implies that aberrant protein glycosylation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of lung cancer.

Non‐Histone Lactylation: A New Frontier in Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reperfusion therapy is the mainstay of treatment for ischemic stroke (IS) but frequently exacerbates secondary injury. Following cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, lactate accumulates markedly. Traditionally regarded as a metabolic byproduct, lactate has gained new significance with the discovery of protein lactylation. In addition to experimental

Fibroblast and keratinocyte gene expression following exposure to the extracts of holy basil plant (Ocimum tenuiflorum), malabar nut plant (Justicia adhatoda), and emblic myrobalan plant (Phyllanthus emblica)

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
This data article provides gene expression profiles, determined by using real-time PCR, of fibroblasts and keratinocytes treated with 0.01% and 0.001% extracts of holy basil plant (Ocimum tenuiflorum), sri lankan local name “maduruthala”, 0.1% and 0.01 ...
