Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) for lineage assignment and high resolution diversity studies in Trypanosoma cruzi. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
BACKGROUND: Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) is a powerful and highly discriminatory method for analysing pathogen population structure and epidemiology. Trypanosoma cruzi, the protozoan agent of American trypanosomiasis (Chagas disease), has remarkable

Molecular characterization and expression analysis of SYCP1 and SYCP3 in hybrid fish derived from Megalobrama amblycephala × Culter alburnus

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society
SYCP1 and SYCP3 are essential testis‐specific genes for centromere pairing during meiosis, as well as for spermatogenesis and fertility in male germ cells.

CROSSING RELATIONSHIPS AMONG ANCIENT AND EXPERIMENTAL SUNFLOWER HYBRID LINEAGES [PDF]

open access: yesEvolution, 2000
Reproductive barrier formation between newly derived hybrid taxa and their parental species represents a major evolutionary hurdle. Here, I examine the development of a sterility barrier during hybrid speciation by examining the fertility of progeny from all combinations of crosses involving three experimentally synthesized sunflower hybrid lineages ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Origin of a cryptic lineage in a threatened reptile through isolation and historical hybridization [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 2016
Identifying phylogenetically distinct lineages and understanding the evolutionary processes by which they have arisen are important goals of phylogeography. This information can also help define conservation units in endangered species. Such analyses are being transformed by the availability of genomic-scale data sets and novel analytical approaches ...

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

The cytoplasmic domain of CD4 promotes the development of CD4 lineage T cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Thymocytes must bind major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins on thymic epithelial cells in order to mature into either CD8+ cytotoxic T cells or CD4+ helper T cells.

lineage A1/D1 and the non‐aggressive A1/D2 lineage with roots of oilseed rape

open access: yes, 2023
Verticillium longisporum is a soilborne fungal vascular pathogen of Brassica crops. Three hybrid lineages originating from three independent hybridization events of four haploid Verticillium parents are known. V .

Attenuation of RNA polymerase II pausing mitigates BRCA1-associated R-loop accumulation and tumorigenesis

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The vast majority of BRCA1-driven breast cancers derive from luminal progenitor cells but the mechanisms of this lineage specificity are unclear. Here the authors show that dangerous accumulation of DNA-RNA hybrid structures due to RNA polymerase II ...
