Introduction : extent, processes and evolutionary impact of interspecific hybridization in animals

open access: yes, 2008
Since the time of Charles Darwin, studies of interspecific hybridization have been a major focus for evolutionary biologists. Although this phenomenon has often been viewed as problematic in the fields of ecology, taxonomy and systematics, it has become ...

Detection of complete and partial chromosome gains and losses by comparative genomic in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Comparative genomic in situ hybridization (CGH) provides a new possibility for searching genomes for imbalanced genetic material. Labeled genomic test DNA, prepared from clinical or tumor specimens, is mixed with differently labeled control DNA prepared ...

“Criteria of Hybridity” [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1947
THE importance of the study of natural hybridization is obvious in view of the large part it plays in the process of evolution. There have been considerable differences of opinion, first as to the possibility of recognizing natural hybrids and, secondly, as to the status of the parents once the possibility of hybridization has been established.

A Comparative Analysis of Hybridized Genetic Algorithm in Predictive Models of Breast Cancer Tumors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Advancement in computer-aided tools towards accurate breast cancer early prediction models has proven to be advantageous, which in turn helps to reduce the mortality rate associated with this cancer.

Hybrid magnonics in hybrid perovskite antiferromagnets

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
AbstractHybrid magnonic systems are a newcomer for pursuing coherent information processing owing to their rich quantum engineering functionalities. One prototypical example is hybrid magnonics in antiferromagnets with an easy-plane anisotropy that resembles a quantum-mechanically mixed two-level spin system through the coupling of acoustic and optical

Morphological detection of X- and Y-chromosomes in smears and paraffin-embedded tissues using a non-isotopic in situ hybridization technique (NISH) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Pharyngeal smears and paraffin-embedded tissue specimens (skeletal muscle, kidney) obtained from 10 male and 10 female individuals were evaluated using non-isotopic in situ hybridization (NISH) with commercial X- and Y-specific biotinylated probes which ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A Geometric Morphometrics Approach to the Study of Natural Variations and Hybrid Detection in Populations of Alnus incana (L.) Moench and Alnus rohlenae Vít, Douda and Mandák

open access: yesPlants
Landmark-based geometric morphometrics (GM) was used to examine, for the first time, spontaneous hybridization between Alnus incana (L.) Moench and Alnus rohlenae Vít, Douda and Mandák, and to assess inter- and intrapopulation variability in leaf shape ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The variety “Saratovskaya zolotistaya” is 25

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
For 25 years due to its unique properties the spring durum wheat variety “Saratovskaya zolotistaya” (1993) is popular not only among grain and pasta producers, but also among breeders of Russia and the CIS countries.
