Hydantoins as antitumor agents

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1977
A series of 27 hydantoins was prepared and tested as antitumor agents. These were variously substituted in the 5 position but with special emphasis on the substituents (chloro, acetyl, chloroacetyl, and methyl) in the 1 and/or 3 positions. The most active compound was 5,5-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dichlorohydantoin with a T/C value of 190% against P-388 ...

The fetal hydantoin syndrome

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1975
Five unrelated children born to epileptic women treated with hydantoin anticonvulsants were found to have a similar broad multi-system pattern of abnormalities, including craniofacial anomalies, nail and digital hypoplasia, prenatal-onset growth deficiency, and mental deficiency.

Antimicrobial Hydantoin‐Containing Polyesters

Macromolecular Bioscience, 2012
AbstractA new N‐hydantoin‐containing biocompatible and enzymatically degradable polyester with antibacterial properties is presented. Different polyesters of dimethyl succinate, 1,4‐butanediol, and 3‐[N,N‐di(β‐hydroxyethyl)aminoethyl]‐5,5‐dimethylhydantoin in varying molar ratios are prepared via two‐step melt polycondensation.

Atypical Fetal Hydantoin Syndrome

Pediatrics, 1982
The pattern of malformations observed by Bartoshesky et al1 is atypical for fetal hydantoin syndrome, suggesting the possibility of an additional teratogenic influence. No mention was made of chromosome studies, either blood or tissue, in the infant, and the possibility of aneuploidy should be considered. I have seen two children with de

Fetal Hydantoin Syndrome Characteristics

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1984
Sir.—Kogutt and Young described a newborn with multiple congenital anomalies as having a case of the fetal hydantoin syndrome.1 The infant had hypoplastic distal phalanges and hypoplastic fingernails, which are common manifestations of the fetal hydantoin syndrome. But the patient also had an imperforate anus, a rectovaginal fistula, renal agenesis, a
