Phosphorus and Sulfur and the Related Elements, 1988
Abstract The influence of the exo-chalcogen atoms on the hydantoin skeleton of the complete series of molecules NH C(=X) NH C(=Y)CMe2 (X, Y = O, S, Se) has been studied from several points of view.

The fetal hydantoin syndrome

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1975
Five unrelated children born to epileptic women treated with hydantoin anticonvulsants were found to have a similar broad multi-system pattern of abnormalities, including craniofacial anomalies, nail and digital hypoplasia, prenatal-onset growth deficiency, and mental deficiency.

Hydantoins as antitumor agents

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1977
A series of 27 hydantoins was prepared and tested as antitumor agents. These were variously substituted in the 5 position but with special emphasis on the substituents (chloro, acetyl, chloroacetyl, and methyl) in the 1 and/or 3 positions. The most active compound was 5,5-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dichlorohydantoin with a T/C value of 190% against P-388 ...

Microchemical tests for hydantoins and barbiturate-hydantoin mixtures

Microchemical Journal, 1972
Abstract Substituted hydantoins, a number of which possess anticonvulsant activity and are prescribed alone or compounded with barbiturates, were observed to enter into a number of reactions commonly utilized to identify barbituric acid derivatives. The reactivity of the hydantoins with the Dille-Koppanyi and the Zwikker tests is sufficiently similar

Fetal Hydantoin Syndrome

Archives of Dermatology, 1981
The increased incidence of fetal malformation after gestational exposure to hydantoin has been reported in pediatric,1obstetric,1and general medical3journals but not previously, to my knowledge, in the dermatologic literature. The distinctive cutaneous features of the fetal hydantoin syndrome may bring the disorder to the attention of the dermatologist.
