REACTION OF HYDRAZONOYL HALIDES WITH 2,4-DIOXOTETRAHYDROTHIAZOLE-5-THIOCARBOXANILIDES
Phosphorus, Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements, 1995Abstract Reaction of 3-phenyl-2,4-dioxotetrahydrothiazole-5-thiocarboxanilides 3 with hydrazonoyl halides 4 in N,N-dimethylformamide in the presence of potassium hydroxide yielded the thiadiazoline derivatives 7 and 13. The mechanism of formation of the latter products is discussed.

Reactions and Biological Activities of Hydrazonoyl Halides
Current Organic SynthesisAbstract: This review covers the literature information on the chemistry of hydrazonoyl halides with different substrates to give heterocyclic compounds. From the foregoing survey, it seems this provides a useful and convenient strategy for the synthesis of numerous heterocyclic derivatives.

N-(chloro-furan-2-yl)methylene-N′-(4-nitrophenyl)hydrazone (I) reacted with triethylphosphite to produce the phosphonate derivative III. The tetrazine derivative VI was produced by the interaction of I with diethyl-phosphite. Hydrazonoyl azide derivatives VIIIa–c reacted with triphenyl phosphine to form the iminophosphorane derivatives Xa–c.

Reactions of hydrazonoyl halides with imidazoles and benzimidazoles
Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1979Hydrazonoyl halides upon reaction with N-methylimidazole and N-substituted benzimidazoles yield ring opened 1 : 1 adducts. The action of aqueous sodium hydroxide on these adducts leads to the formation of pyrazin-2-one or quinoxalin-2-one derivatives via ring expansion.

The Chemistry of Heterocyclic Hydrazonoyl Halides
1995Publisher Summary Hydrazonoyl halides have emerged as an important class of intermediates, particularly for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. This chapter discusses the synthesis, properties, and reactions of Hydrazonoyl Halides. The mechanisms of some of the reactions and the structures of some of the products are outlined.
