Hydrodynamic Limit for Spatially Structured Interacting Neurons [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Physics, 2015
In this paper we study the hydrodynamic limit for a stochastic process describing the time evolution of the membrane potentials of a system of neurons with spatial dependency. We do not impose on the neurons mean-field type interactions. The values of the membrane potentials evolve under the effect of chemical and electrical synapses and leak currents.

Optimal parameters of elliptical groove gas film face seal with bidirectional rotational characteristics [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Engineering
The performance of gas film face seals is substantially affected by the geometric features of the texture on the seal face. To enhance the design of elliptical groove face seals for efficient bidirectional rotation, a comprehensive theoretical analysis ...

Effects of Active Vibration Control of Journal Bearings [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, Mechanical Series, 2016
The article deals with the stability of the movement of the journal inside the bushing of the hydrodynamic plain bearings, which limits the operational range of rotor rotational speed.

Generalized dynamical density functional theory for classical fluids and the significance of inertia and hydrodynamic interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the dynamics of a colloidal fluid including inertia and hydrodynamic interactions, two effects which strongly influence the non-equilibrium properties of the system. We derive a general dynamical density functional theory (DDFT) which shows very

Hydrodynamic limit of a disordered lattice gas [PDF]

open access: yesProbability Theory and Related Fields, 2003
We consider a model of lattice gas dynamics in the d-dimensional cubic lattice in the presence of disorder. If the particle interaction is only mutual exclusion and if the disorder field is given by i.i.d. bounded random variables, we prove the almost sure existence of the hydrodynamical limit in dimension d>2.

Indirect optical trapping using light driven micro-rotors for reconfigurable hydrodynamic manipulation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Optical tweezing with intense lasers can be harmful to biological specimens and limits the types of materials that can be trapped. Here, the authors demonstrate an indirect optical trapping approach which uses hydrodynamic forces to exert nanoscale ...

Evaluation of jet breakup length with a CFD code under steam generation condition in a pre-flooded cavity

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2023
When the reactor vessel is penetrated in a severe accident of light water reactor, the molten fuel-coolant interaction including the jet breakup occurs and the jet breakup length becomes one of the important parameters.

Enhanced Thermoelectric Power in Graphene: Violation of the Mott Relation By Inelastic Scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We report the enhancement of the thermoelectric power (TEP) in graphene with extremely low disorder. At high temperature we observe that the TEP is substantially larger than the prediction of the Mott relation, approaching to the hydrodynamic limit due ...

STUDY OF SOME SPRING OF W-IRAQ AND IT'S EFFECT ON THE EUPHRATES RIVER [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة الانبار للعلوم الصرفة, 2012
:Springs are natural eruptions of ground water to the surface of the earth. They are considered important sources of life. The hydrochemical study of the springs water samples shows that their water is of marine origin and characterized by highly solvent
