Influence of 2% chlorhexidine on pH, calcium release and setting time of a resinous MTA-based root-end filling material

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2015
The addition of chlorhexidine (CHX) to a resinous experimental Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (E-MTA) based root-end filling material is an alternative to boost its antimicrobial activity.

Kinetics and thermodynamics of Cr (VI) reduction by Tamarindus indica methanol leaves extract under optimized reaction conditions

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2022
Environmental contamination with Cr (VI) has recently attracted public attention because of its high concentration in soil and wastewater originating majorly from anthropogenic activities and natural processes.

Large effect of polydispersity on defect concentrations in colloidal crystals [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 120, 6765 (2004), 2004
We compute the equilibrium concentration of stacking faults and point defects in polydisperse hard-sphere crystals. We find that, while the concentration of stacking faults remains similar to that of monodisperse hard sphere crystals, the concentration of vacancies decreases by about a factor two.

Faster Quantum Concentration via Grover's Search [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We present quantum algorithms for routing concentration assignments on full capacity fat-and-slim concentrators, bounded fat-and-slim concentrators, and regular fat-and-slim concentrators. Classically, the concentration assignment takes $O(n)$ time on all these concentrators, where $n$ is the number of inputs.

Effects of Inorganic Ions and Glucose on Hydrogen Production by Indigenous Microbes in Sewage Sludge [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmentAsia, 2008
The effects of inorganic ions (Cl-, K+, Na+ and Mg2+) and glucose concentrations on hydrogen production using sewage sludge microbes were studied. The experiments were investigated in the batch experiment by the heat mixed microorganisms at pH 5.5 and 35

Removal of acetaldehyde gas using wet scrubber coupled with photo-Fenton reaction

open access: yesAIMS Environmental Science, 2016
The feasibility of the combined air-cleaning method, which consisted of a wet scrubber and the photo-Fenton reaction, in the removal of gaseous acetaldehyde was evaluated.

Concentration Inequalities for Markov Jump Processes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We derive concentration inequalities for empirical means $\frac{1}{t} \int_0^t f(X_s) ds$ where $X_s$ is an irreducible Markov jump process on a finite state space and $f$ some observable. Using a Feynman-Kac semigroup we first derive a general concentration inequality. Then, based on this inequality we derive further concentration inequalities. Hereby

Effects of the halo concentration distribution on strong-lensing optical depth and X-ray emission [PDF]

open access: yesAstron.Astrophys.473:715-725, 2007, 2007
We use simulated merger trees of galaxy-cluster halos to study the effect of the halo concentration distribution on strong lensing and X-ray emission. Its log-normal shape typically found in simulations favors outliers with high concentration.
