Use of hydrogen-rich solvent and principal component analysis improves the recovery of phytochemicals from grape wastes

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Food Research
Grape wastes (peels, seeds, and stems) are wine and fruit juice wastes rich in phytochemicals. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of hydrogen-rich solvents (HRS), including hydrogen-water (HRW), hydrogen-rich ethanol (HRE), and hydrogen-rich ...

Simultaneous Enhancement of Performance and Stability in Dual‐Gate a‐IGZO Thin‐Film Transistors via Single‐Step Laser Annealing for Capacitor‐Less DRAM

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A single‐step laser annealing strategy is presented for dual‐gate a‐IGZO TFTs. The steep thermal gradient induces graded oxygen doping in the channel and simultaneous WOx removal at the contacts, enabling concurrent interface and contact engineering.

Escape of water- and metal-enriched atmospheres from compact hot mini-Neptunes with CHAIN

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Recent observations have revealed that atmospheric compositions of close-in sub-Neptunes are diverse and can differ strongly from purely hydrogen-and-helium-dominated atmospheres. Aims. We assess the possibility of modelling metal-rich and water-

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Biohydrogen production from food waste in batch and semi-continuous conditions: evaluation of a two-phase approach with digestate recirculation for pH control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The research investigated the production of Biohythane in a two-phase anaerobic digestion process treating food waste as substrate. Preliminary batch assays were carried out at initial organic loadings of 15, 20, 25 and 30 kg TVS m?3, in stirred 1.5-l ...

Balancing Hydrophobicity and Hydrophilicity: Dual Filler‐Engineered Proton Exchange Membranes for Durable, High‐Power Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polarity‐matched Zr–MOFs program Nafion's nanoscale morphology during solution casting. Hydrophilic UiO‐66 preserves hydrated pathways, while hydrophobic UiO‐67 increases the proton hopping sites by densifying ionic clusters. Combining both fillers yields a membrane that delivers 176 mS cm−1 conductivity, reaches 1.46 W cm−2 under 200 kPa, and triples ...

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.
