Methyl 2-amino-4,5-dimethoxybenzoate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2013
The title compound, C10H13NO4, is essentially planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.049 Å. An intramolecular C—H...O hydrogen bond occurs and the amino group forms an intramolecular N—H...Oester hydrogen bond; the other H atom ...

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Triol-promoted activation of C–F bonds: Amination of benzylic fluorides under highly concentrated conditions mediated by 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
Activation of the C–F bond of benzylic fluorides was achieved using 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane (2) as a hydrogen bond-donating agent. Investigations demonstrated that hydrogen bond-donating solvents are promoting the activation and hydrogen bond ...

The Hydrogen Bond of QCD

open access: yes, 2019
Using the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, we show that exotic resonances, X and Z, may emerge as QCD molecular objects made of colored two-quark lumps, states with heavy-light diquarks spatially separated from antidiquarks.

Salicylaldehyde hydrazones: buttressing of outer sphere hydrogen-bonding and copper-extraction properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Salicylaldehyde hydrazones are weaker copper extractants than their oxime derivatives, which are used in hydrometallurgical processes to recover ~20 % of the world’s copper.

Targeting EZH2 reverses thyroid cell dedifferentiation and enhances iodide uptake in anaplastic thyroid cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) lacks iodide uptake ability due to MAPK activation increasing the expression of the histone methyltransferase EZH2, which represses thyroid differentiation genes (TDGs) such as the sodium iodide symporter (NIS). Dual inhibition of MAPK (U0126) and EZH2 (EPZ6438/Tazemetostat) reverses this mechanism, thus restoring TDG ...

The Characteristics of PD-L1 Inhibitors, from Peptides to Small Molecules

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
The programmed cell death ligand protein 1 (PD-L1) is a member of the B7 protein family and consists of 290 amino acid residues. The blockade of the PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint pathway is effective in tumor treatment.

The Relation Between the Energy of a Hydrogen Bond and the Frequencies of the O[Single Bond]H Bands [PDF]

open access: yes, 1940
It has previously been pointed out (1) that there appears to be a relation between the energy of a hydrogen bond and the shift of the frequency of the O-H bands which accompanies the formation of the bond.

Inverse Temperature Dependence of Nuclear Quantum Effects in DNA Base Pairs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Despite the inherently quantum mechanical nature of hydrogen bonding, it is unclear how nuclear quantum effects (NQEs) alter the strengths of hydrogen bonds.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.
