Polarization‐Reoriented Piezocatalysis Enables Plastic Upcycling with Mechanical Energy

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Mixed plastic waste remains difficult to upcycle selectively under mild conditions, and piezocatalysis has been constrained by a persistent see‐saw effect: Stronger piezoelectric polarization tends to divert charge carriers away from the very active sites that drive catalysis. Sha et al.

Fire‐Safe Polymeric Insulation Foams for Energy‐Efficient and Low‐Carbon Buildings

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This review systematically summarizes recent advances in fire‐safe polymeric insulation foams, emphasizing the balance among flame retardancy, thermal insulation, mechanical reliability, and long‐term durability. By linking material‐level thermophysical properties with building cooling‐energy demand and operational carbon emissions, it establishes a ...

Oxidant‐Expedited Synthesis of H‐Phosphonates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
An exceptionally mild method for synthesis of alkyl and aryl H‐phosphonates from phosphites is reported, requiring only water and O2 (including air) as reagents. Mechanistic experiments indicate that the role of O2 (and other oxidants) in the transformation is to promote a radical mechanism, and that H2O functions to provide both the hydrogen and the ...

Iron‐Catalyzed Hydrodecarboxylation of Fatty Acids From Vegetable Oils for Drop‐In Biofuel Production

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
An iron‐catalyzed hydrodecarboxylation for renewable hydrocarbon production is reported, featuring an alternative hydrogen source and a commercially available iron salt as the catalyst. The protocol enabled efficient one‐pot Cn–1 hydrocarbon synthesis from vegetable oils under mild and open‐air conditions.
