This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Comparison of C═C bond hydrogenation in C-4 unsaturated nitriles over Pt/alumina [PDF]
The hydrogenation of allyl cyanide (but-1-ene-4-nitrile, AC), trans- and cis-crotononitrile (E- and Z-but-2-ene nitrile, TCN and CCN), and methacrylonitrile (2-cyano-1-propene, MCN) were studied, both singly and competitively, over a Pt/alumina catalyst ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Electrocatalytic alkyne semi-hydrogenation to alkenes with water as the hydrogen source using a low-cost noble-metal-free catalyst is highly desirable but challenging because of their over-hydrogenation to undesired alkanes.

Electronic structure, phase stability and chemical bonding in Th$_2$Al and Th$_2$AlH$_4$ [PDF]
We present the results of theoretical investigation on the electronic structure, bonding nature and ground state properties of Th$_2$Al and Th$_2$AlH$_4$ using generalized-gradient-corrected first-principles full-potential density-functional calculations.

Hydrogen microstructure in hydrogenated amorphous silicon [PDF]
We present a method to determine the local hydrogen bonding structure in hydrogenated amorphous silicon from infrared spectroscopy measurements. This approach is based on a different oscillator strength and refractive index for hydrogen atoms located in the isolated and clustered phase.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Ligand-controlled regiodivergent and enantioselective C–H cyanation of secondary amines
Aliphatic amines, such as N,N-dialkyl secondary amines, represent important scaffolds in bioactive molecules, driving significant interest in their regio- and stereoselective C–H functionalisation.
