1 alpha hydroxycholecalciferol and 25 hydroxycholecalciferol in renal bone disease.

Proceedings of the European Dialysis and Transplant Association. European Dialysis and Transplant Association, 1976
Four microgrammes of 1-alpha-hydroxycholecalciferol (1-alpha-OH D3) or 200 mug of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-OH D3) were given orally every other day respectively to 10 uraemic patients (8 on chronic haemodialysis) for 1-12 weeks and to 3 patients on chronic haemodialysis for 4-8 weeks.

Plasma 25‐Hydroxycholecalciferol in Chronic Renal Failure

European Journal of Clinical Investigation, 1973
Abstract. 47 patients with chronic renal failure were investigated for plasma 25‐hydroxycholecalciferol (25‐OH D3) concentration, serum calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase. 22 patients had chronic haemodialysis twice weekly. There is a highly significant positive coefficient of correlation between calcaemia and 25‐OH D3 plasma concentration ...

Clinical Uses of 1-alpha-hydroxycholecalciferol

Current Vascular Pharmacology, 2014
Alfacalcidol is a widely used vitamin D compound, especially in clinical nephrology because it does not require enzymatic activation by the kidneys. For that reason it has been used for decades to treat abnormalities in bone and mineral balance that arise in chronic kidney disease.

1α‐Hydroxycholecalciferol in the Treatment of Hypoparathyroidism

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1977
ABSTRACT In two patients (father and daughter) with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism, one of whom was resistant to the action of vitamin D2 and AT‐10, lα‐hydroxycholecalciferol (lα‐(OH)D3) in doses of 2–5 μ//day restored the serum calcium concentration to the normal range.

Acute Administration of 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol in Man

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1976
Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D responses to oral doses of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol were measured in healthy volunteers. Peak serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels occurred 4 to 8 hours after doses of 1.5, 5, and 10 mug per kg of body weight. The mean increments above baseline serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations at 4 hours were linear over this dose range ...

Competitive Protein-Binding Assay for 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol

Clinical Science, 1974
1. A competitive protein-binding assay for plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol was developed, using Sephadex LH-20 columns for the isolation of the sterol and a partially purified protein from rat serum as the binding protein. 2. The mean plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in eighteen male and female normal volunteers was 38 ± SD 14 pmol/ml ...

Metabolism of 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol in Nephrectomized Rats

Klinische Wochenschrift, 1971

Metabolism of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol by human bone

Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1983
Although there is abundant evidence from animal studies that 1,25-dihydroxychole-calciferol [1,25-(OH)2D3] is synthesized in the kidney, it is still unknown whether human bone might also be involved in the formation of this metabolite. To investigate whether 1,25-(OH)2D3 can be synthesized by human bone, 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-OH D3) metabolism ...

25-Hydroxycholecalciferol: Direct Effect on Calcium Transport

Science, 1969
The perfused small intestine from a vitamin D deficient rat exhibits about one-half the calcium transport of the intestine from a rat given vitamin D. These levels of calcium transport can be maintained for at least 4 hours. Addition of 2.5 micrograms of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol added to the vitamin D deficient intestine via the arterial ...

Radioimmunologische Bestimmung von 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol

Mikrochimica Acta, 1976
