Precise Engineering of Asymmetric Tri‐Active Sites by Symbiotic Strategy for Photocontrolled Directional Reforming of Biomass

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A symbiotic strategy is proposed by DFT predictions for the rational design of CuxTiO2 SACs. The Cu SAs are introduced to form an asymmetric Cu–Ov–Ti structure, which significantly enhances the adsorption and activation of O2 and HMF on the catalyst.

Near-UV photolysis cross sections of CH_3OOH and HOCH_2OOH determined via action spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Knowledge of molecular photolysis cross sections is important for determining atmospheric lifetimes and fates of many species. A method and laser apparatus for measurement of these cross sections in the near-ultraviolet (UV) region is described.

Synthesis and evaluation of N⁶-substituted apioadenosines as potential adenosine A₃ receptor modulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Adenosine receptors (ARs) trigger signal transduction pathways inside the cell when activated by extracellular adenosine. Selective modulation of the A(3)AR subtype may be beneficial in controlling diseases such as colorectal cancer and rheumatoid ...

A Touch Enabled Hemodynamic and Metabolic Monitor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a touch‐based hybrid platform for simultaneous monitoring of vital signs and sweat metabolites. With a simple tri‐finger touch of 4–6 min, users can concurrently get to know their glucose, uric acid, cortisol levels from fingertip sweat, along with blood pressure and heart rate.

Drug design and synthesis of first in class PDZ1 targeting NHERF1 inhibitors as anticancer agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Targeted approaches aiming at modulating NHERF1 activity, rather than its overall expression, would be preferred to preserve the normal functions of this versatile protein.

Tailored Fluorescent Metal–Organic Frameworks Hybrid Membrane Sensor Arrays: Simultaneous and Selective Quantification of Multiple Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A filterable paper‐based fluorescent metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) sensor array is developed for one‐to‐one recognition and simultaneous quantification of multiple antibiotics. Three representative MOFs are strategically designed to exhibit exceptional affinity and specificity for the target antibiotic.

Multi‐Omics and ‐Organ Insights into Energy Metabolic Adaptations in Early Sepsis Onset

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that patients at risk of sepsis have a distinct metabolite and lipid signature, including serine and aminoadipic acid, in their serum before clinical diagnosis. A mouse model of sepsis with a compatible serum signature reveals underlying metabolic changes, including mitochondrial adaptation, altered serine‐dependent purine metabolism ...

Investigation of the key active intermediate for the synthesis of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane: Hydrolysis and nitrolysis of 1-acetoxymethyl-3,5,7-trinitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane

open access: yesEnergetic Materials Frontiers, 2020
The problem whether 1-hydroxylmethyl-3,5,7-trinitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane is the key active intermediate for the synthesis of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane (HMX) from urotropine or 3,7-dinitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane ...
