Direct Observation of Thermal Hysteresis in the Molecular Dynamics of Barocaloric Neopentyl Glycol. [PDF]
Barocalorics (BCs) are emerging as promising alternatives to vapour-phase refrigerants, which are problematic as they exacerbate climate change when they inevitably leak into the atmosphere. However, the commercialisation of BC refrigerants is significantly hindered by hysteresis in the solid-solid phase transition that would be exploited in a ...

Measures of hydroxymethylation [PDF]
Hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) methylation is known to be a possible epigenetic mark impacting genome stability. In this paper, we address the existing 5hmC measure $ $ and discuss its properties both analytically and empirically on real data. Then we introduce several alternative hydroxymethylation measures and compare their properties with those of $

Reductive Hydroxymethylation of 4‐Heteroarylpyridines
AbstractThe activation of pyridinium salts with electron‐withdrawing heterocycles enables an iridium‐catalyzed reductive hydroxymethylation reaction to proceed smoothly, facilitating the preparation of useful 3D heteroaryl‐substituted functionalized piperidines.

The Anti-HIV Actions of 7- and 10-Substituted Camptothecins
Camptothecin (CPT), a traditional anti-tumor drug, has been shown to possess anti-HIV-1 activity. To increase the antiviral potency, the anti-HIV activities of two CPT derivatives, 10-hydroxy-CPT and 7-hydroxymethyl-CPT, were evaluated in vitro.

Base-catalyzed reactions of environmentally relevant N-chloro-piperidines. A quantum-chemical study [PDF]
Electronic structure methods have been applied to calculate the gas and aqueous phase reaction energies for base-induced rearrangements of N-chloropiperidine, N-chloro-3-(hydroxymethyl)piperidine, and N-chloro-4-4-fluorophenyl)-3-(hydroxymethyl ...

Synthesis of bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) derivatives functionalised with two, four or eight hydroxyl groups [PDF]
Short synthetic routes to a range of BEDT-TTF derivatives functionalised with two, four or eight hydroxyl groups are reported, of interest because of their potential for introducing hydrogen bonding between donor and anion into their radical cation salts.
