Synthesis and Anti-Hepatitis B Activities of 3′-Fluoro-2′-Substituted Apionucleosides
Nucleoside analogues have excellent records as anti-HBV drugs. Chronic infections require long-term administration ultimately leading to drug resistance. Therefore, the search for nucleosides with novel scaffolds is of high importance. Here we report the

Conversion and assimilation of furfural and 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural by Pseudomonas putida KT2440
The sugar dehydration products, furfural and 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF), are commonly formed during high-temperature processing of lignocellulose, most often in thermochemical pretreatment, liquefaction, or pyrolysis.

Dicarboxylate‐modified anionic hairy cellulose nanocrystals exhibit a high selectivity for dysprosium(III) over neodymium(III). This selectivity arises from disordered dicarboxylate cellulose “hairs” that enable cooperative ionic coordination, hydrogen bonding, and strain‐induced conformational shrinkage.

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

The Issue of Misidentification of Kojic Acid with Flufuran in Aspergillus flavus
In the course of investigations on the complex phenomenon of bee decline, Aspergillus flavus was isolated from the haemocoel of worker bees. Observations on the metabolomic profile of this strain showed kojic acid to be the dominant product in cultures ...

Enhanced selectivity of hydrogel-based molecularly imprinted polymers (HydroMIPs) following buffer conditioning. [PDF]
We have investigated the effect of buffer solution composition and pH during the preparation, washing and re-loading phases within a family of acrylamide-based molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for bovine haemoglobin (BHb), equine myoglobin (EMb) and
