Magnetically Controlled Reversible Photomagnetic Nanoactuators for Dynamic Contrast Enhancement in Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Photomagnetic nanoactuators with ≈90% scattering efficiency in the second near‐infrared window are demonstrated to exhibit magnetic field‐controlled modulation of optical scattering and optical coherence tomography signals. These nanoactuators are reversibly assembled and disassembled under the external magnetic field modulation, enabling enhanced ...

4-Hydroxymethyl-2-methoxyphenol

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
The title compound, C8H10O3, is close to planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.042 Å) apart from the hydroxyl O atom [deviation = 1.285 (1) Å] and an intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bond occurs.

CO2‐Responsive Smart Wood Scaffold for Natural Organic Matter Removal without Secondary Pollution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A CO2‐responsive smart wood scaffold is developed for sustainable water purification, achieving efficient natural organic matter (NOM) removal and microbial disinfection without secondary pollution. The CO2‐responsive polymer coating undergoes protonation upon CO2 exposure, enabling strong cation−π interactions with NOM.

Multiphasic pH profiles for the reaction of tris-(hydroxymethyl)-aminomethane with phenyl esters [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Reanalysis of data (Bruice and York 1961) for the pH dependences of the calculated apparent second-order rate constants (k2) for the reaction of tris-(hydroxymethyl)-aminomethane (TRIS) with phenyl esters reveals that the pH profiles are consistently much better represented as multiphasic, i.e. as a series of straight lines separated by discontinuities

Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction of Volatile Compounds in Vinegar: Validation Study and Comparison With Solid Phase Microextraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Stir bar sorptive extraction was evaluated for analysing volatiles in vinegar. The procedure developed shows detection and quantitation limits, and linear ranges adequate for analysing this type of compounds. The accuracy obtained was close to 100%, with

New Perspectives on Semiconducting Conjugated Oligomers for Neuromodulation in Hydra vulgaris

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Semiconducting organic compounds, thiophene‐based, modify the rhythmic electrical activity of the cnidarian Hydra vulgaris acting on specific neuronal circuits. The ETE‐S trimer also forms electronically conducting wires in the living tissues of the animal.
