Associations of finerenone with reduced insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease: A real‐world observational study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This real‐world observational study enrolled 256 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (T2D‐CKD). After 12 months of finerenone treatment, 45 patients completed follow‐up. Finerenone was associated with significant improvements in insulin resistance markers (HOMA‐IR, TyG index), lipid profile (LDL‐C), glycemic control (HbA1c), and ...

Effects of esaxerenone add‐on therapy versus angiotensin II receptor blocker dose escalation on albuminuria and blood pressure in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes: An exploratory randomized study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Residual albuminuria remains a major clinical challenge in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension despite renin–angiotensin system inhibitor therapy. Esaxerenone, a selective nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist, reduces albuminuria; however, its effects on oxidative stress remain unclear.

Grade III or Grade IV Hypertensive Retinopathy with Severely Elevated Blood Pressure

open access: yesWestern Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2012
Introduction: Hypertensive retinopathy describes a spectrum of retinal changes in patients with elevated blood pressure (BP). It is unknown why some patients are more likely to develop acute ocular end-organ damage than others with similar BP.

Hypertensive Retinopathy [PDF]

open access: yesHypertension, 2008
At the end of the 19th century, hypertensive retinopathy was first described by Markus Gunn in hypertensive patients with renal disease. Nearly 50 years later, Keith and colleagues documented the prognostic value of funduscopic abnormalities in hypertensive patients and categorized hypertensive nephropathy into 4 groups of increasing severity that ...

Learning opportunities in eclampsia care: A ten‐year audit from Norway, 2013–2022

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 9, Page 1767-1777, September 2026.
Audit of eclampsia identified learning for obstetric care. Improved hypertension management and prophylactic magnesium sulfate represent opportunities for prevention, while cerebral imaging and follow‐up postpartum were underused. Clinicians need to consider differential diagnosis in pregnant and postpartum women with seizures.
