Two newly described viruses belonging to distinct families, Rhabdoviridae and Geminiviridae, were discovered co-infecting Hyptis pectinata from a tropical dry forest of Ecuador. The negative-sense RNA genome of the rhabdovirus, tentatively named Hyptis latent virus (HpLV), comprises 13,765 nucleotides with seven open reading frames separated by the ...

Effect of the aqueous extract of Hyptis pectinata on liver mitochondrial respiration
Phytomedicine, 2005Some studies have indicated that mitochondria may be the target organelle of plants. We therefore decided to assess the effects of the aqueous extract of Hyptis pectinata leaves on liver mitochondrial respiratory function in vitro. Eight rat livers were subjected to isolation of mitochondria by differential centrifugation.

Volatile Constituents ofHyptis pectinataPoit. (Lamiaceae)
Journal of Essential Oil Research, 1998Abstract The essential oil from leaves of Hyptis pectinata Poit. from the Kumaon region of India was analyzed by GC, GC/MS, GC/FTIR and NMR spectroscopy. Thirty-three constituents, mainly mono- and sesquinoids, were identified. The oil composition has been compared with that of the oils obtained from H. pectinata growing on the Fiji Islands and in West

Antinociceptive activity of the volatile oils of Hyptis pectinata L. Poit. (Lamiaceae) genotypes
Phytomedicine, 2008Hyptis pectinata L. Poit (Lamiaceae) is known popularly in Brazil as "sambacaita" or "canudinho" and is used in the treatment of inflammations, bacterial infections and ache. The antinociceptive activity of the volatile oils of six genotypes, at doses of 100, 200 and 400mg/kg body wt., were investigated using abdominal writhe models induced by acetic ...

The aqueous leaf extract of Hyptis pectinata (L.) Poit (Lamiaceae), popularly known in Brazil as "sambaicatá" or "canudinho", was tested for its antinociceptive effects using the abdominal writhing, hot plate and formalin test models, and for its aniedematogenic effects using the carrageenin and arachidonic acid-induced rat paw edema.
