SCD2 Alleviates Diabetes‐Associated Cognitive Dysfunction by Improving Microglial Lipid Metabolism
Cell Proliferation, EarlyView.This study reveals a novel mechanism of microglial metabolic dysfunction in diabetic cognitive impairment. Defective SCD2 disrupts monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) metabolism, triggering mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation dysfunction and leading to abnormal lipid droplet accumulation (marked by PLIN2).

S‐Adenosylmethionine (SAM) hydrolases counter increased SAM epimerisation in thermophilic archaea
The FEBS Journal, EarlyView.S‐Adenosyl‐l‐methionine (SAM) is a vital enzyme cofactor. Epimerisation at the sulfonium centre of biologically active (SS,SCα)‐SAM is driven by heat, yielding biologically inactive (RS,SCα)‐SAM. Here, two novel archaeal SAM hydrolases from the thermophilic Sulfolobus acidocaldarius and the halophilic Haloferax volcanii are shown to cleave (RS,SCα)‐SAM.

Cryo‐EM structures of multiple‐peptide resistance factor (MprF) from Pseudomonas aeruginosa
The FEBS Journal, EarlyView.Cryo‐EM analysis of MprF from Pseudomonas aeruginosa reveals a dimeric enzyme, distinct from Rhizobium homologues. The soluble GNAT domain contains a dynamic amphipathic helix (TTH) that adopts different positions in detergent micelle and nanodisc, relative to the membrane.
