A novel icariin type flavonoid from Epimedium pseudowushanense

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2018
A novel icariin type flavonoid glycoside with a malonaldehydic acid intramolecular ester and two known flavonoid glycosides were isolated from Epimedium pseudowushanense. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and comparison of their data to the values reported in the literatures.

New pathway of icariin-induced MSC osteogenesis: transcriptional activation of TAZ/Runx2 by PI3K/Akt

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences, 2017
Icariin has been demonstrated to stimulate mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) osteogensis and activate several signals, such as PI3K/Akt, but how the osteogenesis was sequentially mediated is unclear.

Icariside II Preparation from Icariin Separated from Epimedium Herbal Extract Powder by a Special Icariin Glycosidase

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology and Biotechnology
In this study, icariside II was prepared from icariin by a special enzyme. The yield of the substrate icariin from a powdered extract of the popular herb Epimedium was 16.9%. The enzyme, which was produced from Aspergillus sp.y48 fermentation, hydrolyzes icariin to icariside II and was characterized.

Combined Analysis of Transcriptome and Metabolome Explains the Differences in Pulp Color in Jackfruit

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The pulp color of jackfruit reflects variations in its nutritional composition and influences market preference. We investigated the mechanism underlying pulp coloration through an integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis of three jackfruit cultivars—light yellow “THA”, yellow “GTM”, and orange “YNH”.

Icariin Ameliorates Palmitate-Induced Insulin Resistance Through Reducing Thioredoxin-Interacting Protein (TXNIP) and Suppressing ER Stress in C2C12 Myotubes

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2018
Both thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress are implicated in skeletal muscle insulin resistance. Icariin has been found to mimic insulin action in normal skeletal muscle C2C12 cells and display anti-diabetic ...
