Can uncertainties in sea ice albedo reconcile patterns of data-model discord for the Pliocene and 20th/21st centuries? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
General Circulation Model simulations of the mid-Pliocene warm period (mPWP, 3.264 to 3.025 Myr ago) currently underestimate the level of warming that proxy data suggest existed at high latitudes, with discrepancies of up to 11°C for sea surface ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Development of an IC Engine Simulator

open access: yesMeasurement and Control, 1993
After demonstrating the need for real-time simulation, it is shown that a transputer-based system can be used to mimic the functional elements of an analogue computer. This analogue approach to the modelling of dynamical systems, combined with the transputer's inherent digital mode of operation, results in a low-cost quasihybrid computer. In particular,

The effect of droplet size and liquid water content on ice accretion and aerodynamic coefficients of tower legs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An experimental study was conducted to examine the effects of varying the cloud characteristics on ice accretion on tower legs and on the aerodynamic coefficients around the ice-covered legs.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Source Apportionment of Fine Organic and Inorganic Atmospheric Aerosol in an Urban Background Area in Greece

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
Fine particulate matter (PM) originates from various emission sources and physicochemical processes. Quantification of the sources of PM is an important step during the planning of efficient mitigation strategies and the investigation of the potential ...

Bonded particle simulation of fragmenting ice blocks

open access: yes, 2022
This paper describes bonded particle method-based modeling of ice blocks failing under compressive ice-to-ice contacts. Ice block contacts transmit ice loads; thus, local failure of ice blocks has an important role in ice-structure interaction processes.

Spatial and temporal variability in the snowpack of a High Arctic ice cap: implications for mass-change measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Interpretation of ice mass elevation changes observed by satellite altimetry demands quantification of the proportion of elevation change which is attributable to variations in firn densification.

Load distributions in the ice-structure interaction process in shallow water

open access: yes, 2022
Model-scale experiments were performed to explore the process of level ice interacting with a, in model-scale, ten-meter-wide inclined structure in shallow water.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.
