Measuring temperature of the ice surface during its formation by using infrared instrumentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A non-destructive remote sensing technique was used to measure the surface temperature of a thin macroscopic water film flowing on a growing asymmetric ice accretion during its formation inside an icing research wind tunnel.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Recent Development in Ice Engineering

open access: yesHydro Science & Marine Engineering, 2021
Ice Engineering is associated with how to solve challenges from different kinds of ice, such as, sea ice, river ice, lake ice, icing, and snow in cold regions. The aim is to design special structures which could resist structural and global impact from drifting ice and freezing ice.

Modeling Sudden Ice Shedding from Conductor Bundles

open access: yes, 2012
Sudden ice shedding from conductor bundles was modeled numerically and experimentally by improving the approaches proposed formerly for a single cable. The experimental study was carried out on a small-scale laboratory model of one span of a twin bundle.

Clean subglacial access: prospects for future deep hot-water drilling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Accessing and sampling subglacial environments deep beneath the Antarctic Ice Sheet presents several challenges to existing drilling technologies. With over half of the ice sheet believed to be resting on a wet bed, drilling down to this environment must

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Development of a Model for the Ice Scraping Process, October 1996 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A laboratory study has been conducted with two aims in mind. The first goal was to develop a description of how a cutting edge scrapes ice from the road surface.

Ice basin experiments on mixed-mode failure on ice cones

open access: yes, 2023
Increased activity in planning offshore wind farms in the northern Baltic Sea has renewed interest in studying the effect of ice cones on ice failure mechanisms.
