Synthesis of a Novel Thermoresponsive S53P4 Bioactive Glass Extract–Poloxamer 407 Injectable Hydrogels: Assessment of Biocompatibility and Antimicrobial Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
This study investigates innovative thermoreversible hydrogels derived from S53P4 bioactive glass extracts to aid in the healing of infected diabetic foot wounds. These injectable gels, which gel at body temperature, release beneficial ions and remain stable over time.

Sea ice rheologies for large-scale models

open access: yes, 2013
Current sea ice models are far from simulating the complex behavior of the Arctic ice pack. When used at high resolution, they do not provide realistic deformation fields that are responsible for sea ice ridging and leads opening. The impacts of using a better representation of sea ice dynamics may then be crucial for many applications related to sea ...

3D‐Printed Sulfur‐Derived Polymers With Controlled Architectures for Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 44, 1 June 2026.
Rheology‐guided formulation design for direct ink writing enables the fabrication of 3D sulfur copolymer cathodes with controlled architectures for lithium‐sulfur batteries. The printed electrodes exhibit multiscale porosity and high sulfur utilization, delivering enhanced electrochemical performance compared to conventional cast electrodes.

High‐Resolution and Real‐Time In Situ Generation of Cellular Spheroids by Laser‐Assisted Bioprinting for Guided Microvascularization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 46, 8 June 2026.
Micro‐injection laser‐assisted bioprinting enables ultrafast and precise patterning of small endothelial cell spheroids by injecting a highly concentrated single‐cell suspension into GelMA/ColMA hydrogels. In co‐culture with fibroblasts, controlled pre‐vasculogenic network formation is obtained at microscale resolution.

The effect of ice rheology on shelf edge bending

open access: yes
Abstract. The distribution of water pressure on the vertical front of an ice shelf has been shown to cause downward bending of the edge if the ice has vertically uniform viscosity. Satellite lidar observations show upward bending of shelf edges for some areas with cold surface temperatures. A simple analysis shows that upward bending of shelf edges can
