Landscape Change Detected over a Half Century in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Using High-Resolution Aerial Imagery

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Rapid warming has occurred over the past 50 years in Arctic Alaska, where temperature strongly affects ecological patterns and processes. To document landscape change over a half century in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska, we visually ...

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Shifts in dissolved organic matter and nutrients in tundra ponds along a gradient of permafrost erosion

open access: yesArctic Science
The accelerated thawing of permafrost in ice-wedge polygonal landscapes results in the formation of shallow ponds, where nutrients and dissolved organic matter (DOM) remain poorly characterized.

Evaporation dominates evapotranspiration on Alaska’s Arctic Coastal Plain

open access: yesArctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research, 2018
The dynamics of evapotranspiration (ET), such as the partitioning to evaporation and transpiration, of polygonal ground on the Arctic Coastal Plain are not well understood.

Structure and formation of ice-ground veins of the second lake-alluvial terrace in the North of Gydan in the late Neopleistocene–Holocene

open access: yesЛëд и снег, 2019
The syngenetic ice and ice-ground composite veins in khasyrey (alas) and interalas plateaus were studied on the second lake-alluvial terrace located in the North of the Gydan Peninsula near the village of Gyda. On the basis of the radiocarbon dating, the

Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Ice wedge degradation and CO2 and CH4 emissions in the Tuktoyaktuk Coastlands, Northwest Territories

open access: yesArctic Science, 2018
Increases in ground temperature make soil organic carbon in permafrost environments highly vulnerable to release to the atmosphere. High-centred polygonal terrain is a form of patterned ground that may act as a large source of carbon to the atmosphere ...

3D Bioprinted Breast Cancer‐Stroma Model with Tailored Migration‐Permissive Bioink Reveals Impact of Adipose‐Derived Stromal Cells on Cancer Cell Migration and Invasion Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A migration‐permissive bioink composed of methacrylated collagen type I and thiolated hyaluronic acid enables 3D bioprinting of breast cancer‐stroma models. Single‐cell tracking reveals that adipose stromal cells enhance tumor cell motility and stromal invasion, accompanied by collagen remodeling, and a shift in tumor cell morphology.
