On the computation of confluent hypergeometric functions for large imaginary part of parameters b and z [PDF]
The final publication is available at http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-319-42432-3_30We present an efficient algorithm for the confluent hypergeometric functions when the imaginary part of b and z is large.

A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...

Artificial Intelligence as the Next Visionary in Liquid Crystal Research
The functions of AI in the research laboratory are becoming increasingly sophisticated, allowing the entire process of hypothesis formulation, material design, synthesis, experimental design, and reiterative testing to be automated. In our work, we conceive how the incorporation of AI in the laboratory environment will transform the role and ...

Programmable Nanoscale Motion via Molecular Patterning on DNA Origami
DNA origami nanorods enable precise urease placement with tunable coverage and asymmetry, revealing that propulsion depends on a balance of catalytic loading and geometry. Maximum speed occurs at ∼25% end‐coverage and declines as enzyme distribution becomes more symmetrical.

Engineering transient dynamics of artificial cells by stochastic distribution of enzymes
Here the authors develop a coacervate micromotor that can display autonomous motion as a result of stochastic distribution of propelling units. This stochastic-induced mobility is validated and explained through experiments and theory.

Dependence of exchange anisotropy and coercivity on the Fe–oxide structure in oxygen-passivated Fe nanoparticles [PDF]
Ultrafine Fe particles have been prepared by the inert gas condensation method and subsequently oxygen passivated. The as-obtained particles consist in an Fe core surrounded by an amorphous Fe-oxide surface layer.

Reprogrammable multi‐material smart textiles knitted from liquid crystal elastomer fibers undergo 2D and 3D deformation under thermal and photo stimuli. Circularly knitted tubular structures reversibly contract in radial and axial directions, enabling autonomous climbing, liquid release, and micro pumping.

Using a computationally driven screening to enhance magnetocaloric effect of metal monoborides
In most cases, substitution studies that aim to optimize magnetic properties are performed at the magnetic atomic site. However, in the case of MnB, magnetic substitutions at the Mn site significantly decrease the once promising magnetocaloric and ...
