Neural mechanisms of the temporal response of cortical neurons to intracortical microstimulation

open access: yesBrain Stimulation
Background: Intracortical microstimulation (ICMS) is used to map neuronal circuitry in the brain and restore lost sensory function, including vision, hearing, and somatosensation.

Does load position on the trunk affect cardiopulmonary responses of the bearer during simulated front and back infant carrying methods?

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Medicine, 2020
Background: The position of the infant on the trunk during back and front infant carrying methods (ICMs) may be a potential factor of maternal physiological changes.

On the computation of confluent hypergeometric functions for large imaginary part of parameters b and z [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The final publication is available at http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-319-42432-3_30We present an efficient algorithm for the confluent hypergeometric functions when the imaginary part of b and z is large.

On‐Surface Indigo‐Based Bimolecular Coordination Networks with Programmable Regular or Vitreous Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...

Explaining the lower usage rate of indigenous construction materials in Ghanaian public buildings using bounded rationality

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Judicious use of Indigenous Construction Materials (ICM) contributes to sustainability of a local construction industry. Why has the use of ICMs not contributed to the sustainability of the Ghanaian Construction Industry (GCI), and how can the use of ...

Correlation-based model of artificially induced plasticity in motor cortex by a bidirectional brain-computer interface

open access: yes, 2016
Experiments show that spike-triggered stimulation performed with Bidirectional Brain-Computer-Interfaces (BBCI) can artificially strengthen connections between separate neural sites in motor cortex (MC).

Artificial Intelligence as the Next Visionary in Liquid Crystal Research

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The functions of AI in the research laboratory are becoming increasingly sophisticated, allowing the entire process of hypothesis formulation, material design, synthesis, experimental design, and reiterative testing to be automated. In our work, we conceive how the incorporation of AI in the laboratory environment will transform the role and ...

Engineering transient dynamics of artificial cells by stochastic distribution of enzymes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Here the authors develop a coacervate micromotor that can display autonomous motion as a result of stochastic distribution of propelling units. This stochastic-induced mobility is validated and explained through experiments and theory.

Thermo‐Mechanically Recyclable Smart Textiles from Circularly Knitted Liquid Crystal Elastomer Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reprogrammable multi‐material smart textiles knitted from liquid crystal elastomer fibers undergo 2D and 3D deformation under thermal and photo stimuli. Circularly knitted tubular structures reversibly contract in radial and axial directions, enabling autonomous climbing, liquid release, and micro pumping.
